Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@turtlexyz/mcp

MCP integration assistant for Turtle Earn and Streams.

Installation

The package ships a turtle-mcp binary; the simplest way to run it is with npx. Example MCP client configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "turtle": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@turtlexyz/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "TURTLE_API_KEY": "...",
        "TURTLE_BASE_URL": "https://earn.turtle.xyz"
      }
    }
  }
}

Or install it globally and point your client at turtle-mcp:

npm install -g @turtlexyz/mcp

Scope

This package exposes a small product layer for distributor developers integrating Turtle:

  • scaffold_earn_integration generates an attributed Earn deposit scaffold with the distributor ID baked into server-side calls.
  • MCP resources expose Turtle SDK overview, Earn and Streams recipes, the integration-assistant guide, and the local OpenAPI spec.

It intentionally omits WalletConnect, transaction signing, transaction broadcasting, MCP Apps UI resources, raw SDK write tools, Streams config execution tools, and attribution-check execution tools. Deposit and withdraw scaffolds produce code that returns unsigned transactions for a wallet to sign outside the MCP.

SDK Tool Generator

The SDK-derived generator remains available as development scaffolding:

bun run mcp:update

It regenerates src/generated/ from the SDK operation and schema surfaces. Those generated files are ignored by git and are not registered by the default server entrypoint.

Development

bun install

cd packages/mcp
bun run type-check
bun run build

The product-layer tools and resources live in src/product-tools.ts and src/product-resources.ts; they are handwritten and versioned. Markdown resource content lives under resources/ and is exposed through MCP resource templates:

  • turtle://docs/{docName}
  • turtle://recipes/{recipeName}
  • turtle://skills/{skillName}
  • turtle://openapi/spec

Configuration

The MCP server uses the same environment variables as @turtlexyz/sdk.

| Variable | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | TURTLE_API_KEY | (empty) | API key used by authenticated SDK calls. | | TURTLE_BASE_URL | https://earn.turtle.xyz | Turtle Earn API base URL. |

For generated integration scaffolds, the distributor ID is an explicit tool input because it must be embedded in Earn deposit-generation calls for attribution.

Run the built server:

TURTLE_API_KEY=... bun run build
TURTLE_API_KEY=... bun run start

MCP Client Config (local development)

Example MCP client configuration running the server from a monorepo checkout instead of npm:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "turtle": {
      "command": "bun",
      "args": ["run", "--cwd", "/path/to/turtle-kit/packages/mcp", "start"],
      "env": {
        "TURTLE_API_KEY": "...",
        "TURTLE_BASE_URL": "https://earn.turtle.xyz"
      }
    }
  }
}

Inspector

The dev script runs the MCP Inspector against the local TypeScript server.

bun run dev

Pass env vars to the Inspector process and its MCP server:

TURTLE_API_KEY=... bun run dev

The Inspector also supports -e KEY=VALUE when invoked directly:

bun run --cwd ../sdk codegen
bun run --cwd ../sdk build
mcp-inspector -e TURTLE_API_KEY=... bun run src/index.ts

Skill

The repo-local skill lives at skills/turtle-integration-assistant/SKILL.md. It teaches agents to use the MCP as a build-time integration assistant:

  • Earn: membership -> deposit generation -> wallet broadcast -> attribution verification.
  • Streams: read recipe/resource guidance -> human-reviewed SDK execution.
