Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@typemf/core

The Ecore metamodel and runtime of TypeMF, the TypeScript port of the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF).

  • The Ecore metamodel: EPackage, EClass, EAttribute, EReference, EEnum, EDataType, EOperation, EAnnotation, generics, and the EcorePackage/EcoreFactory singletons.
  • EObject with reflective access (eGet, eSet, eIsSet, eUnset), containment (eContainer, eContents, eAllContents) and change notifications (onDidChange).
  • Dynamic objects: DynamicEFactoryImpl creates instances of any EClass without generated code.
  • Resources: ResourceSet, Resource, URI, proxies for cross-document references, and the registries for packages, resource factories and URI converters.

Model code is generated with @typemf/generator. Serialization formats are in @typemf/xmi and @typemf/json, file access in Node.js in @typemf/node.

Installation

npm install @typemf/core

Example

Build a metamodel with the Ecore factory and create an instance of it reflectively:

import { DynamicEFactoryImpl, EcorePackageImpl } from '@typemf/core';

const ecore = EcorePackageImpl.eINSTANCE;
const factory = ecore.getEFactoryInstance();

const pkg = factory.createEPackage();
pkg.setName('library');
pkg.setNsURI('https://example.org/library');
pkg.setNsPrefix('library');
pkg.setEFactoryInstance(new DynamicEFactoryImpl());

const book = factory.createEClass();
book.setName('Book');
const title = factory.createEAttribute();
title.setName('title');
title.setEType(ecore.getEString());
book.getEStructuralFeatures().add(title);
pkg.getEClassifiers().add(book);

const dune = pkg.getEFactoryInstance().create(book);
dune.eSet(title, 'Dune');
dune.eGet(title); // 'Dune'

EcorePackageImpl.eINSTANCE must be accessed before any other Ecore object is created; it initializes the Ecore metamodel.

Loading and saving

A ResourceSet needs a URI converter for the URI scheme and a resource factory for the file extension:

import { ResourceSetImpl, URI } from '@typemf/core';
import { NodeFileUriConverter } from '@typemf/node';
import { registerXmiFormat } from '@typemf/xmi';

const resourceSet = new ResourceSetImpl();
resourceSet.getUriConverterRegistry().register(new NodeFileUriConverter());
registerXmiFormat(resourceSet.getResourceFactoryRegistry());
resourceSet.getPackageRegistry().register(pkg);

const resource = await resourceSet.getResource(URI.createFileURI('/path/to/library.xmi'), true);
resource.getContents(); // root objects
await resource.save();

Limitations

  • EMap is not supported.
