Shorten links from your terminal. The official CLI for U2L, the modern free URL shortener.
npm install -g @u2l/cliQuick start
u2l login # paste your API key once (free at u2l.ai -> Settings -> API)
u2l shorten https://example.com/some/very/long/page

u2l login [--key u2l_live_...] Save your API key (prompts if omitted)
u2l shorten <url> [flags] Create a short link
--slug, -s <slug> Custom slug (5-50 chars)
--domain, -d <domain> Short domain (default: auto)
--title, -t <title> Link title
--qr Create as a QR code
u2l list [--search q] [--limit n] Recent links with click counts
u2l stats [short-url-or-slug] Account stats, or one link's stats
u2l delete <short-url-or-slug> Delete a link (asks unless --yes)

- The API key is stored at
~/.config/u2l/config.json(file mode 600). - Set
U2L_API_KEYto override it, e.g. in CI. - Every plan includes API access, including the free plan. Rate limits and docs: u2l.ai/developers.
Requirements
Node.js 18 or newer. Zero runtime dependencies.
