Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

wireframe-md

A small text format for wireframes, rendered as clean, themed HTML. Agents write it in a few lines; people see a wireframe. It is published as @uberblick/wireframe and is built first for Uberblick documents, where a ```wireframe code block shows as a live preview.

```wireframe
dialog Delete “Q3 launch draft”?
  text It will be gone for everyone, with its comments and history. This can't be undone.
  row.end
    button.focus Cancel
    button.danger Delete
```

Throughout 0.x the format may change in any minor version; CHANGELOG.md says what changed.

phone draws a greyscale iPhone-like frame around a 393 × 852 CSS px screen, with an even bezel, deep corners, a dark island, time and status icons, and a home indicator. Content scrolls between fixed top and bottom bands; the screen narrows to fit its parent. See Phones in AUTHORING.md.

Install

pnpm add @uberblick/wireframe

An ES module with type declarations and no runtime dependencies. Rendering needs a DOM and a browser with CSS light-dark() and color-mix(). CSS calc-size() improves minimum-width fitting for fractional cards. Without it, unbreakable text can extend past a narrow fractional card's border.

Usage

import { parseWireframe, renderWireframe, summarizeWireframe } from "@uberblick/wireframe";
import "@uberblick/wireframe/styles.css";

const result = parseWireframe(source); // the block's body, without its fences
for (const { line, severity, message } of result.diagnostics) console.warn(`line ${line}: ${severity}: ${message}`);

const wireframe = renderWireframe(result); // null when there is an error
if (wireframe !== null) figure.replaceChildren(wireframe);
figure.setAttribute("aria-label", summarizeWireframe(result));

parseWireframe never throws: warnings still draw, errors don't. The output is static, inert DOM, and every style rule sits under .wf-root. Without a CSS bundler, getEmbedStyles() returns the same stylesheet as a string.

Home screens

| Kind | Addition | | --- | --- | | image | Labelled placeholders; .square, .round and pixel width= | | row | .between spreads children; .scroll scrolls cards sideways | | card | Holds text, images and rows; pixel width=, fractional width=1/3 in full-width rows, and padding= | | dock | One final phone child, pinned above the home indicator | | option | One icon; a dock's direct toggle draws equal-width tabs |

See Images, card rows and docks in AUTHORING.md.

More

  • AUTHORING.md: the format, every kind and the common mistakes. Agents read this before writing a block; it ships as @uberblick/wireframe/AUTHORING.md.
  • THEMING.md: the --wf-* properties and mapping a host's tokens.
  • playground/README.md: the local playground and example approval, for working on this repository.
