Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A task processor which could be hooked in.

Overview

The task processor is responsible for creating and managing tasks. Tasks can be organized in parallel or serial according to your needs. The hooks defined in the task will be triggered during the task execution. There are different types of hooks to meet your needs. Such as first, sequential and parallel. For features, check features. For a simple example, check usage. The phrases like hook dirver are terms. Their brief explanation is here. For more detail, check our API docs.

Features

  • Delegation
    • Can hook into the children hook dirver through the parent hook dirver.
  • Shareable
    • Can create a task options which can be seen as a definition of a task. Others can use it to create tasks.
  • Extensible
    • Can extend the task options easily.
  • Composable
    • Can compose the parent task options with children task options in series or parallel mode with your need.
  • Preset hooks
    • Can preset hook fns for task options.

Usage

Below is a simple example of a task which sets data to the context, writes the data to disk, and calls the hook fns at the same time.

import { writeFile } from 'fs/promises'

import { Processor, TaskOptions, series } from '@ugdu/processor'

declare module '@ugdu/processor' {
  interface Context {
    data: string
  }
}

interface WriteHooks {
  'before-write'(data: string): void
  'after-write'(data: string): void
}

const setData = new TaskOptions(
  function () {
    const data = 'xx'
    this.manager.context.data = data
  }
)

const write = new TaskOptions<WriteHooks>(
  // The `action` which will be invoked when the corresponding `task` is running.
  async function () {
    const {
      manager: {
        context: { data }
      }
    } = this
    this.call('before-write', 'sequential', data)
    await writeFile('/path/to/target/file', data)
    this.call('after-write', 'sequential', data)
  },
  // The `hook name`s that the corresponding `task` could call with.
  ['before-write', 'after-write'],
  // The preset hooks of the corresponding `task`.
  {
    'before-write' (data) {
      console.log(data)
    }
  }
)

const to = series(setData, write)

const processor = new Processor()

const task = processor.task(to)

task.hook('before-write', () => console.log('before ~'))
task.hook('after-write', () => console.log('after ~'))

task.run()

// Will log
// 'xx'
// 'before ~'
// 'after ~'
