Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

KrnlTS backend semantic kernel for authoring, validating, and running modular TypeScript services

Readme

KrnlTS

KrnlTS is the backend semantic kernel for defining, validating, and running modular TypeScript services.

Architecture

KrnlTS
├── packages/core Service contracts, runtime, lifecycle, registry,
│ protocols, transports, state, events, discovery
├── packages/validate AST/static architecture and purity validation
└── packages/cli krnl command-line tooling

IMPLEMENTATION-SPEC.md is the canonical architecture specification.

KrnlTS owns backend service semantics and framework tooling. It does not own downstream service catalogs, frontend libraries, application composition, or ecosystem orchestration.

Canonical Orchestration Boundary

KrnlTS owns within-service functionality composition:

KrnlTS
  Service
    ├── Functionality
    └── FunctionalityOrchestration

A FunctionalityOrchestration strictly composes internal functionalities belonging to a single service. It MUST NOT compose independent services. Cross-service orchestration (ServiceOrchestration) is owned exclusively by Skipo at the application/domain layer.

Core service model

A service defines:

  • identity and version
  • operations with input/output contracts
  • execution handlers
  • optional state
  • typed events
  • lifecycle hooks
  • dependencies, capabilities, and protocol metadata

Public service construction is runtime-validated through the service generators.

Lifecycle is an explicit state machine:

uninitialized -> initializing -> ready -> starting -> running
                                               |
                                               v
                                           stopping -> stopped

A stopped service may be restarted. Invalid lifecycle transitions fail deterministically.

Remote service contract

ServiceProxy implements the same IService contract as a local service while operation execution is mediated by a ProtocolAdapter.

Proxy lifecycle is local client lifecycle. Proxy state is a local cache and proxy events are local subscriptions unless a transport explicitly implements synchronization.

Validation

KrnlTS has two complementary validation layers:

  1. Runtime contract validation — validates service definitions and registration boundaries.
  2. AST/static validation — validates source architecture and purity rules through @ultrst-armada/krnl-validate.

Both are part of the framework contract and require regression coverage.

CLI

The @ultrst-armada/krnl-cli package exposes:

krnl validate
krnl build
krnl dev
krnl sync
krnl generate <service|orchestration|functionality|library> <Name> [parentService]

Packages

| Package | Purpose | |---|---| | @ultrst-armada/krnl-core | Canonical runtime and framework primitives | | @ultrst-armada/krnl-validate | AST/static validation | | @ultrst-armada/krnl-cli | CLI tooling | | @ultrst-armada/krnl | Root distribution package/export surface |

The legacy root src/ tree is compatibility-only. Canonical implementations live under packages/core/src.

Acceptance

A KrnlTS change is complete only when build, typecheck, tests, validation, CLI behavior, and public package exports pass, with no ownership leakage into downstream ecosystem layers.
