Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Bootstrap Colorpicker

Bootstrap Colorpicker is a modular color picker plugin for Bootstrap 4.

npm

This is the maintained fork of itsjavi/bootstrap-colorpicker, which was archived after 3.4.0 and whose bootstrap-colorpicker npm package is deprecated. It is published as @unabandoned/bootstrap-colorpicker by the unabandoned organization. The plugin API, the options and the dist/ file paths are unchanged from 3.4.0.

Install

npm install @unabandoned/bootstrap-colorpicker

To keep existing import "bootstrap-colorpicker" statements and bootstrap-colorpicker/dist/... paths working unchanged, install it under the original name:

npm install bootstrap-colorpicker@npm:@unabandoned/bootstrap-colorpicker

jquery (>= 2.2) and bootstrap (>= 4.0) are peer dependencies, so the plugin uses your application's copies; popper.js (>= 1.10) is an optional peer, needed only by Bootstrap 4's popover. The package has no runtime dependencies of its own: the color library is bundled into dist/js.

The dist files are only distributed via npm. From a clone, run npm install and then npm run build (esbuild for the UMD bundle, sass for the stylesheet) to generate them, and npm test to run the test suite.

Versions

Note that the plugin may work without Bootstrap if your code is not using any of the mentioned Bootstrap dependencies.

Examples

With Bootstrap

The Bootstrap JS dependency is optional and it is mainly needed for the popover support. No Bootstrap CSS is required for the plugin to work.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <link href="dist/css/bootstrap-colorpicker.css" rel="stylesheet">
</head>
<body>
  <div class="demo">
      <h1>Bootstrap Colorpicker Demo (with Bootstrap)</h1>
      <input id="demo-input" type="text" value="rgb(255, 128, 0)" />
  </div>
  <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-3.4.1.js"></script>
  <script src="//unpkg.com/[email protected]/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>
  <script src="dist/js/bootstrap-colorpicker.js"></script>
  <script>
    $(function () {
      // Basic instantiation:
      $('#demo-input').colorpicker();

      // Example using an event, to change the color of the #demo div background:
      $('#demo-input').on('colorpickerChange', function(event) {
        $('#demo').css('background-color', event.color.toString());
      });
    });
  </script>
</body>

Without Bootstrap

To use the plugin without Bootstrap, the popover option should be set to false or null and, depending on your implementation, you will usually need to set inline to true and a container selector option.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <link href="dist/css/bootstrap-colorpicker.css" rel="stylesheet">
</head>
<body>
  <div id="demo">
      <h1>Bootstrap Colorpicker Demo (without Bootstrap)</h1>
    <input type="text" value="rgb(255, 128, 0)" />
  </div>
  <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-3.4.1.js"></script>
  <script src="dist/js/bootstrap-colorpicker.js"></script>
  <script>
    $(function() {
      $('#demo').colorpicker({
        popover: false,
        inline: true,
        container: '#demo'
      });
    });
  </script>
</body>
