Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@unifia/plugin

v1.3.15

Published

Author plugins and custom tools for Unifia — plugin lifecycle hooks, the tool() helper and the TUI extension types.

@unifia/plugin

Types and helpers for writing Unifia plugins and custom tools.

A plugin is a module Unifia loads at startup. It receives a typed SDK client and returns a set of lifecycle hooks; a custom tool is a description, an argument schema and an execute function that the agent can call.

Install

npm install @unifia/plugin

Unifia also injects this package into the package.json of every config directory it manages, pinned to the running CLI version — so a tool authored there is already typed without an explicit install.

A custom tool

import { tool } from "@unifia/plugin"

export default tool({
  description: "Count the lines of a file",
  args: {
    path: tool.schema.string().describe("Path to the file, relative to the project"),
  },
  async execute(args, context) {
    const file = Bun.file(`${context.directory}/${args.path}`)
    const text = await file.text()
    return `${text.split("\n").length} lines`
  },
})

tool.schema is the bundled Zod instance — use it rather than your own, so the argument schema matches the one the agent is shown.

A plugin

import type { Plugin } from "@unifia/plugin"

export const Notify: Plugin = async ({ worktree, $ }) => {
  return {
    event: async ({ event }) => {
      if (event.type === "session.idle") {
        await $`notify-send "Unifia" "Session finished in ${worktree}"`
      }
    },
  }
}

Entry points

| Import | Contents | | --- | --- | | @unifia/plugin | Plugin, PluginInput, Hooks, Config, and everything from ./tool | | @unifia/plugin/tool | tool(), ToolContext, ToolDefinition | | @unifia/plugin/tui | Types for extending the terminal UI |

@unifia/plugin/tui needs @opentui/core and @opentui/solid. They are declared as optional peer dependencies: install them only if you extend the TUI.

The declarations for $ (the shell handed to a plugin) refer to Buffer and BufferEncoding, so a project typechecking with skipLibCheck: false needs @types/node — also an optional peer dependency, and already present in any Bun or Node project.
