Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Arete CLI (a4) - Real-time Solana streaming pipelines

Readme

@usearete/a4

The Arete CLI (a4) as an npm package. Programmable, real-time Solana data feeds: deploy stacks, explore live data, wire up your agent.

Install

npx @usearete/a4 install

This downloads the a4 release binary for your platform (the version is locked to the package version), verifies its SHA-256 and minisign signature, copies it to ~/.local/bin/a4 (%USERPROFILE%\.local\bin\a4.exe on Windows), adds that directory to your shell PATH and writes ~/.arete/receipt.json. The last two stdout lines are always:

A4_BIN=/home/you/.local/bin/a4
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"

Agents: your shell snapshotted PATH when the session started, so either eval the export line or call the A4_BIN path directly.

Equivalent:

npm install -g @usearete/a4 && a4 install # global shim, same download path
pnpm dlx @usearete/a4 install
bunx @usearete/a4 install

Or without Node at all:

curl -fsSL https://arete.run/install.sh | sh # macOS, Linux
irm https://arete.run/install.ps1 | iex                # Windows PowerShell

Flags and environment:

| Flag / env | Effect | |---|---| | --install-dir DIR / A4_INSTALL_DIR | Install somewhere other than ~/.local/bin | | --no-modify-path / A4_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1 | Do not edit shell rc files / the Windows user PATH | | --json | Print the install receipt as JSON (the A4_BIN= line still follows) | | A4_MANIFEST_BASE_URL, A4_LATEST_URL | Test overrides for the release download base and latest pointer |

The package has no postinstall script and no dependencies; nothing touches the network at npm install time.

Run

Once installed, a4 is on PATH in new shells. npx @usearete/a4 <args> also works in the same session: it runs the binary recorded in ~/.arete/receipt.json, installing it silently first if needed, so npx @usearete/a4 explore --json prints only the command's JSON. install installs the CLI only when every argument after it is an a4 self install option: --install-dir, --no-modify-path, --json, --force, --verbose, -y/--yes, --non-interactive, -c/--config, --api-url or -h/--help. Anything else is a project install, so npx @usearete/a4 install stack ore --ts runs a4 install stack ore --ts.

a4 init -y          # arete.toml, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, MCP config, skills
a4 doctor --json # check the setup
a4 explore --json # what live data is available
a4 self update # upgrade in place (alias: a4 upgrade)
