Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@usermap/sdk-react

The official React SDK for Usermap — finally start listening to your users.

Installation

npm install @usermap/sdk-react

Note: This package has peer dependencies on react and react-dom (v19+).

Quick Start

Import the FeedbackForm component and render it anywhere in your app. To start collecting feedback, create an api token in the Usermap dashboard.

import { FeedbackForm } from '@usermap/sdk-react';

function App() {
  return <FeedbackForm token="your-api-key" />;
}

That's it! Your users will see a compact feedback widget. Clicking a button immediately submits the sentiment, then opens a dialog where the user can optionally add a quick message.

Components

<FeedbackForm />

A self-contained feedback widget with built-in dialogs for collecting user sentiment and optional written feedback.

| Prop | Type | Required | Default | Description | | ----------- | ------------------------ | -------- | ----------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- | | token | string | ✅ | — | Your Usermap product token for authentication. | | title | string | — | "How do you like the app so far?" | The prompt displayed next to the buttons. | | userEmail | string | — | — | Email address of the user submitting feedback. | | tags | Record<string, string> | — | — | Optional tags to attach to the feedback. | | apiUrl | string | — | https://api.usermap.app/v0 | Custom API endpoint URL. |

Example with custom title

<FeedbackForm token="your-product-token" title="Enjoying this feature?" userEmail="[email protected]" />

Hooks

useSubmitFeedback

If you want full control over the UI, you can use the useSubmitFeedback hook directly to submit feedback to the Usermap API.

import { useState } from 'react';
import { useSubmitFeedback } from '@usermap/sdk-react';

function CustomFeedback() {
  const [message, setMessage] = useState('');
  const { submitFeedback, isLoading } = useSubmitFeedback({
    token: 'your-api-key',
    onSuccess: () => {
      setMessage('');
      console.log('Feedback sent!');
    },
    onError: (err) => console.error(err),
  });

  return (
    <div>
      <input type="text" value={message} onChange={(e) => setMessage(e.target.value)} placeholder="Your feedback..." />
      <button disabled={isLoading} onClick={() => submitFeedback({ sentiment: 'positive', message, userEmail: '[email protected]' })}>
        {isLoading ? 'Sending...' : '👍 Send Feedback'}
      </button>
    </div>
  );
}
