Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Model Context Protocol server for VantageConnections — exposes platform actions as tools for Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI coding assistants.

Readme

@vantageconnections/mcp

Model Context Protocol server for the VantageConnections platform. Wire it into Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, or any MCP-aware client, and Claude can provision websites, change SEO tiers, edit content, run scans, and more — without leaving the conversation.

Install

The server runs on demand via npx; no install needed.

Wire it up in your MCP client's config:

Claude Code (.claude/settings.json in any project, or ~/.claude/settings.json globally)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "vantage": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@vantageconnections/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on macOS)

Same shape — paste the snippet above under mcpServers.

Cursor (Settings → MCP)

Add a new server with command npx and args ["-y", "@vantageconnections/mcp"].

Auth

The MCP server reads the same credentials file the @vantageconnections/cli writes. Log in once:

npm install -g @vantageconnections/cli
vantage login # paste a vc_pat_* token from the portal

…or set the VANTAGE_TOKEN environment variable in your MCP client's environment. The MCP server picks it up automatically.

Get a token at portal → Settings → API keys.

Tools exposed

Each tool's description is written for an LLM to choose between; the AI can call them autonomously. Highlights:

  • vantage_whoami — confirm the connection is alive
  • vantage_websites_list / _get / _create / _delete
  • vantage_content_get / _save
  • vantage_blueprint_get
  • vantage_bookings_enable / _disable
  • vantage_seo_set_tier / _disable / _scan / _geo_probe / _get
  • vantage_domains_list / _add

Once configured, ask Claude things like:

"Provision a new site for my plumbing client in Irvine, slug joes-plumbing-irvine, then set SEO to Growth."

"For website wb_abc, what are the top search queries this week?"

"Add the FAQ section to wb_abc with 5 questions a local barber's customers would ask."

Verify the integration

After wiring up the MCP server, ask Claude:

"Run vantage_whoami."

If that returns your role + email, the integration is live. If it fails, run vantage selftest from the terminal to see exactly which step is broken (missing token, wrong API host, etc.).
