Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Hikvision Doorbell Plugin (fork)

A fork of @vityevato/hikvision-doorbell 1.0.1 (by Roman Sokolov) for Scrypted, with a single change: the doorbell now answers (stops ringing) whenever two-way audio is opened, instead of only when an incoming ring was detected.

Compatibility

This fork targets Hikvision doorbells such as the DS-KV6113-WPE1(B) whose hardware no longer receives firmware updates. The upstream 2.x releases dropped support for these units, so the 1.x line is the last compatible one — this fork is based on 1.0.1 and is the version that still works on the (B) hardware.

Why

In ISAPI mode, opening two-way audio (for example, the Talk button in HomeKit) should tell the doorbell to answer — and therefore stop ringing — by sending:

PUT /ISAPI/VideoIntercom/callSignal?format=json   {"CallSignal":{"cmdType":"answer"}}
PUT /ISAPI/VideoIntercom/callSignal?format=json   {"CallSignal":{"cmdType":"hangUp"}}

In 1.0.1 this only happened when the plugin had already detected the ring (binaryState === true). That detection relies on empirically parsing the camera's binary event stream, which is firmware-dependent. On firmware where the detection fails, the answer is never sent and the doorbell keeps ringing when you try to answer.

The change

src/main.ts, private stopRinging() — the guard is removed:

if (!this.binaryState) return; // removed in this fork

The answer/hangUp call signal is now always sent when two-way audio opens. The command is idempotent and safe even while the camera is idle.

SIP mode note: the sipManager.answer() path waits up to 5s for a TalkHangup event; without an active ring this adds ~5s of latency when opening the channel. The default ISAPI mode is unaffected.

Contents

dist/plugin.zip prebuilt, patched Scrypted plugin bundle
src/              plugin source

Building

The source uses relative imports into the Scrypted monorepo (../../hikvision/src, etc.), so it only builds inside a github.com/koush/scrypted checkout. dist/plugin.zip is the upstream 1.0.1 bundle with the single change above applied.
