Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.3.3

Published

TAMASH GenEx agent (Generator Executer agent): runs plain-English test cases in parallel browser contexts with rules first and a model for what rules cannot decide, and generates maintainable Playwright page objects and tests from the cases that pass.

Readme

@vibetestq/tamash-agent

The TAMASH GenEx Agent. You write test cases in plain English; it runs them in a real browser and turns the ones that pass into Playwright tests.

  • Run plain-English test cases (Markdown or YAML), several at a time.
  • Generate a Playwright project from the cases that pass: page objects, fixtures and tests. What you wrote yourself is never overwritten.
  • Explore an app, read-only, and get a report of its screens, issues, accessibility and the screens no test covers.

Requires Node 22.12 or later, Chrome or Edge (or npx playwright install chromium), and a TAMASH project that includes the GenEx Agent.

Set up

npm i -D @vibetestq/tamash-agent
npx tamash login # signs you in and saves your project in tamash.config.json
npx tamash init --qa --app=shop --url=https://shop.example.com

init creates qa/scenarios/shop/. Put the app's sign-in in qa/scenarios/shop/app.env (it stays out of git), and commit tamash.config.json.

Write a test case

# Admin can add a new employee
Log in using the admin credentials
Click on the text 'PIM'
Click on the 'Add' button
Fill the 'First Name' field with 'Jane'
Click on the 'Save' button
Verify the 'Personal Details' heading is visible

Save it as qa/scenarios/shop/<module>/<name>.md.

Run

npx tamash run --app=shop --workers=4 # run every test case
npx tamash run --app=shop --workers=4 --pom # and write Playwright tests from the ones that pass (qa/automation)
npx tamash explore --app=shop # explore the app, read-only

In CI

Add one secret, TAMASH_ACCESS_TOKEN: a service token of your project (portal: Administration, Projects).
