Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@vidguy_ai/cli

v0.3.1

Published

VidGuy command-line interface — drive snack/video/UGC generation and publishing from your terminal or coding agent.

Readme

@vidguy_ai/cli

npm license

The command-line interface for VidGuy — generate short-form video content (snack packs, faceless/UGC videos, carousels, AI stories, Studio & Seedance image/video) and publish it to social accounts, right from your terminal or a coding agent.

It exposes the same surface as the VidGuy MCP server, wrapping the public vf_live_ REST API.

Install

# zero-install
npx @vidguy_ai/cli --help

# or global
npm i -g @vidguy_ai/cli

# or the convenience installer
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/vidguy-ai/cli/main/install.sh | sh

Requires Node.js ≥ 18.

Auth

Get a vf_live_ key from the VidGuy dashboard (Starter, Pro, or Enterprise plan), then:

vidguy auth login # stores the key in ~/.config/vidguy/config.json
vidguy auth whoami # plan + credit balance
# or, non-interactively (CI / agents):
export VIDGUY_API_KEY=vf_live_...

Quick start

vidguy capabilities # list every command group (offline)
vidguy credits get # balance + recent transactions
vidguy --json snack list | jq # machine-readable for scripting

# generate a video and wait for it
vidguy --json --wait video create --topic "3 standup tips" --duration 30 --platform tiktok

Global flags

--json (machine output) · --quiet · --no-color · --wait (poll async jobs) · --yes (skip destructive/credit-spending confirms) · --api-key / --base-url / --profile · --poll-interval <s> · --timeout <s>.

Exit codes

0 ok · 1 generic · 2 usage · 3 auth (401) · 4 plan required (403) · 5 rate limited (429) · 6 insufficient credits (402) · 7 not found (404).

⚠ Live publishing

social post, social retry, and managed publish post to live external platforms and are not retried server-side — never run them twice for the same content. They require --yes to run non-interactively.

Using it from a coding agent

The package ships a SKILL.md with golden-path recipes and a full command reference. Drop it into your agent's skills directory (e.g. .claude/skills/vidguy/SKILL.md) and the agent can drive the CLI directly.

How it's built

The command surface is generated from VidGuy's OpenAPI document, so the CLI, the REST API, and the MCP server can never drift. See docs/CLI.md for the architecture.
