Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@vitavision/charts

v0.8.1

Small SVG charts on @vitavision/ui: histogram, line, bar, line profile, scales, colour maps, hover and pick.

Readme

@vitavision/charts

Small, hand-rolled SVG charts for the vitavision apps, on @vitavision/ui tokens.

bun add @vitavision/charts @vitavision/ui
@import "@vitavision/ui/styles.css";
@import "@vitavision/charts/styles.css";

Both imports are required: ui/styles.css defines the chrome and verdict tokens (--normal, --defect), and charts/styles.css defines the categorical series palette (--series-1 … --series-6, light and dark). SERIES_COLOURS, seriesColour(), NORMAL_COLOUR and DEFECT_COLOUR are var(--…) paint values that resolve through those tokens, so they follow the theme; use them anywhere a CSS colour or an SVG fill/stroke is accepted.

Charts — hand-rolled SVG over the pure domain/tick/project math in scale.ts: Frame + Legend (the axes/grid/label shell every chart composes), LineChart (multi-series, optional log y), StackedBars, Histogram (one distribution from raw values or pre-binned counts, with markers, a cursor bin and hover/pick), ScoreHistogram (two-class distribution with a threshold rule), and LineProfile (one or more series against arc length in pixels along a scan line or caliper axis, with detected edges drawn as labelled vertical rules).

Fitting a chart to its container: variant="fluid" takes the container's width at a fixed height, for a chart in a resizable inspector.

Interaction on LineChart, LineProfile and Histogram:

  • onHover draws a crosshair with a value readout, and onPick reports a click's x.
  • cursor draws an x chosen elsewhere, such as the pointer on the canvas a profile came from.
  • bands shade x ranges, and markers tick positions on the x axis.

Sequential colour maps: colormap("viridis" | "cividis", t) and colormapValue(map, value, domain), for a magnitude such as an error, a validity or a confidence. ColormapLegend shows the scale with its units; a map is never shown without one.
