Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

The seo plugin of voidbase: meta tags, sitemaps and share cards written from the records themselves

Readme

@voidbase-cloud/plugin-seo

The seo plugin of voidbase, as a package of its own. It answers with what a crawler and a link preview need, written from the records themselves: meta tags for a page, a sitemap of the collections that opt in, and a share card rendered per record.

It ships with voidbase and is on by default — @voidbase-cloud/voidbase depends on this package and loads it — so an instance needs nothing here. Install it yourself only to load it into an app that builds its own plugin graph.

What it serves

| route | what it answers | | --- | --- | | GET /api/seo/meta | the tags for a path, from the record that path maps to | | GET /api/seo/sitemap.xml | the collections that declared a mapping, one entry per visible record | | GET /api/seo/og/:collection/:id.svg | the share card; .png too when VOIDBASE_SEO_PNG=1 bundles the rasteriser |

The two halves that stayed in the core

@voidbase-cloud/voidbase/plugins/seo-paths holds the knob names and the redirect lines a deploy writes, and @voidbase-cloud/voidbase/plugins/seo-locales the locale maths the adapter shares with the card. Both are read by the core itself — the deploy, the bundle, the adapter, the hooks build — so they stayed there and are published for this package, which imports them by name.

Swapping it

An instance loads whichever plugin claims the name seo: install one from a marketplace and it shadows this one, or turn this one off in voidbase.lock. The knob names above stay the deploy's either way, which is why they live where they do.
