Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

WorkspaceAlberta MCP

Stdio bridge for the hosted WorkspaceAlberta procurement MCP endpoint.

This package is for MCP clients that expect a local command transport. It starts mcp-remote and connects it to the hosted WorkspaceAlberta StreamableHTTP endpoint.

MCP client config (published package)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "workspacealberta": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@warreandvavasour/workspace-alberta"]
    }
  }
}

MCP client config (works today, via public mcp-remote)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "workspacealberta": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://elbowsupknivesout.warreandvavasour.com/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

No local Cohere key is required for the hosted endpoint. Model-backed tender analysis runs server-side when available.

Override the endpoint

WORKSPACEALBERTA_MCP_URL=http://127.0.0.1:8000/mcp npx -y @warreandvavasour/workspace-alberta

Or pass a URL as the first argument:

npx -y @warreandvavasour/workspace-alberta http://127.0.0.1:8000/mcp

Native HTTP clients

If your MCP client supports StreamableHTTP directly, use the hosted endpoint without this package:

https://elbowsupknivesout.warreandvavasour.com/mcp

Fallback if the front domain is ever unreachable: https://workspacealberta-983058968342.northamerica-northeast1.run.app/mcp

Publishing checklist (maintainers)

The package is verified with npm pack --dry-run (3 files, ~1.7 kB tarball) and node bin/workspace-alberta.js --help. Two ways to publish:

Via GitHub Actions (preferred): .github/workflows/publish-npm.yml already exists — add an npm automation token with publish rights on the @warreandvavasour scope as the workflow's NODE_AUTH_TOKEN secret, then run the workflow from the Actions tab (it supports a dry-run input) or publish a GitHub release.

Locally:

  1. npm login as an owner of the @warreandvavasour npm scope (create the org at npmjs.com if it does not exist yet — scope name must match exactly).
  2. From this directory: npm publish (publishConfig.access is already public, so no extra flag is needed).
  3. Verify: npx -y @warreandvavasour/workspace-alberta --help.

After publishing, remove the "not yet published" note at the top of this README and the matching caveat in mcp-servers/canadabuys/README.md. Version bumps: npm version patch|minor here, then republish.
