Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Web Decoy browser widget - signal collection, proof-of-work, and captcha UI

Readme

@webdecoy/client

Browser widget for WebDecoy captcha — collects behavioral, environmental, and fingerprint signals, solves a SHA-256 proof-of-work, and submits to your WebDecoy-protected server.

npm version License: MIT

Pairs with the in-process detection engine in @webdecoy/node.

Installation

npm install @webdecoy/client

Or load the standalone bundle directly via <script>:

<script src="https://unpkg.com/@webdecoy/client/dist/webdecoy.global.js"></script>

Usage

Checkbox widget

<div id="captcha-box"></div>
<script type="module">
  import { WebDecoyCaptcha } from '@webdecoy/client';

  WebDecoyCaptcha.configure({ serverUrl: 'https://your-server.com' });
  const id = WebDecoyCaptcha.render('captcha-box', {
    siteKey: 'pk_live_...',
    theme: 'light',
    callback: (token) => console.log('verified:', token),
  });

  // Later: WebDecoyCaptcha.getResponse(id) → token
</script>

Auto-init (no JS)

<div data-webdecoy="pk_live_..." data-endpoint="https://your-server.com"></div>
<script src="https://unpkg.com/@webdecoy/client/dist/webdecoy.global.js"></script>

Invisible mode

Passively scores the session and auto-protects form submissions (injects a hidden webdecoy_token field, scores on submit):

import { WebDecoyCaptcha } from '@webdecoy/client';

WebDecoyCaptcha.configure({ serverUrl: 'https://your-server.com' });
WebDecoyCaptcha.invisible({ siteKey: 'pk_live_...' });

Or score on demand:

const result = await WebDecoyCaptcha.execute('pk_live_...', { action: 'login' });
if (result.success) { /* result.token */ }

What it collects

| Group | Signals | |-------|---------| | Behavioral | mouse trajectory/velocity/micro-tremor, click precision, touch kinematics, scroll, keystroke cadence | | Sensor | device motion/orientation entropy (mobile) | | Environmental | WebDriver/CDP/Playwright markers, canvas, WebGL, audio, fonts, WebRTC, speech, worker consistency, CSS media, permissions, DOMRect, RAF/JS timing | | Form | submit method, per-field textarea typing stats |

Signals are hashed and bound into the proof-of-work so they can't be tampered with after solving. The server scores them with @webdecoy/node.

Server setup

Mount the matching endpoints on your backend (default base path /__webdecoy):

import express from 'express';
import { webdecoyCaptcha } from '@webdecoy/express';

const app = express();
app.use(express.json());
app.use(webdecoyCaptcha({ secret: process.env.WEBDECOY_SECRET }));

See @webdecoy/node for Fastify and Next.js adapters and the full detection/scoring reference.

API

  • WebDecoyCaptcha.configure({ serverUrl })
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.render(container, options) → widgetId
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.getResponse(widgetId) → token | null
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.reset(widgetId)
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.invisible(options) → InvisibleSession
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.execute(siteKey, { action, minTime, powDifficulty }) → Promise<result>
  • WebDecoyCaptcha.autoInit()
