Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Typed fetch client and TanStack Query hooks for Builder Platform APIs

Readme

@wheelhouse/api

Typed HTTP client and optional TanStack Query (React) hooks generated from the Wheelhouse Revenue Management OpenAPI document. Ships as ESM with TypeScript declarations under dist/.

Install

npm install @wheelhouse/api

Peers: react ≥ 19 and @tanstack/react-query ≥ 5 are optional; install them only if you import @wheelhouse/api/react.

Package entry points (package.json → exports)

| Subpath | Use when | | ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | @wheelhouse/api/types | You only need OpenAPI-derived types, JsonBodyInit, ApiErrorLike, and DEFAULT_API_BASE_URL (from servers[0].url in the spec). | | @wheelhouse/api/client | You call the RM API with fetch via createApiClient / configureApiClient and imperative rm* functions (no React Query in your bundle). | | @wheelhouse/api/react | You use <ApiProvider>, useApiClient, and Orval-generated useRm* hooks plus query helpers. |

Configure the HTTP client

  1. configureApiClient({ baseUrl, headers }) (module scope) or
  2. <ApiProvider baseUrl={...} token={...} headers={...}> (React tree).

The RM API expects an integration key: set header X-Integration-Api-Key (see the OpenAPI securitySchemes in rm-api-open-api-spec.json). ApiProvider can also set a Bearer Authorization header when token is passed.

Generated calls use rmApiRequest, which reads the active client from getApiClient() — configure the client before invoking generated functions or hooks.

Regenerating code (codegen)

Source of truth: rm-api-open-api-spec.json at the package root. For now, this will need to be manually downloaded.

From this package:

pnpm run codegen

From the monorepo root:

pnpm api:codegen

This runs Orval (orval.config.ts: rm + rmReact), syncs DEFAULT_API_BASE_URL from the spec, then Prettier and ESLint --fix on generated trees:

  • src/types/generated/ — models + default base URL
  • src/client/generated/ — imperative fetch-style functions
  • src/react/generated/ — React Query v5 hooks (shouldSplitQueryKey for hierarchical query keys)

Do not hand-edit generated files.

Build & publish

pnpm run build

Published tarball includes dist/ only (package.json → files). Run codegen before release when the OpenAPI file changes.

Monorepo

Workspace scripts, CI, and publishing are described in the repository root README.md.
