Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Darwin - Your Adaptive Coding Agent

What is Darwin?

Darwin is the most cost effective cloud coding agent. It's 28% cheaper while being higher accuracy than Codex.

Requirements: Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+ (require(esm) support), Git, Bash, gh for GitHub automation, and Go 1.25.8+ to build the optional native Darwin helpers from source.

Model requests automatically use the separately hosted Darwin API, which routes through Concentrate. Provider API keys and CLI login are not required; the desktop app handles accounts and subscriptions.

Local build and run

From a source checkout:

npm install
npm run build

Run the built CLI locally:

node dist/cli.mjs

Optional native helpers are built during npm run build when Go is available; otherwise those steps are skipped.

Launch

darwin

Launch with skip permission mode:

darwin --dangerously-skip-permissions

Update

darwin update
