Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.2.5

Published

Root container with centered origin and zoom/pan support

Readme

@wonderlandlabs-pixi-ux/root-container

Root/zoom-pan container utilities for PixiJS.

Installation

yarn add @wonderlandlabs-pixi-ux/root-container

Basic Usage

import { Application } from 'pixi.js';
import {
  createRootContainer,
  createZoomPan,
  makeStageDraggable,
  makeStageZoomable,
} from '@wonderlandlabs-pixi-ux/root-container';

const app = new Application();
await app.init({ width: 1200, height: 800 });

const { root, destroy: destroyRoot } = createRootContainer(app);
app.stage.addChild(root); // manual mount
const { zoomPan, destroy: destroyZoomPan } = createZoomPan(app, root);
root.addChild(zoomPan); // manual mount

const drag = makeStageDraggable(app, zoomPan);
const zoom = makeStageZoomable(app, zoomPan, {
  minZoom: 0.25,
  maxZoom: 6,
  zoomSpeed: 0.1,
  renderThrottleMs: 30,
});

zoom.setZoom(1.5);
console.log('zoom:', zoom.getZoom());

// Later:
drag.destroy();
zoom.destroy();
destroyZoomPan();
destroyRoot();

Exported APIs

createRootContainer(app)

Returns:

  • stage: app stage
  • root: centered root container (origin at screen center)
  • destroy(): removes listeners and destroys root

Note: createRootContainer does not auto-mount. Add root to stage manually.

createZoomPan(app, root?)

Returns:

  • zoomPan: container for world/content
  • destroy(): removes and destroys zoomPan

Note: createZoomPan does not auto-mount. Add zoomPan to a parent manually.

makeStageDraggable(app, container, options?)

Returns:

  • destroy()

Uses @wonderlandlabs-pixi-ux/observe-drag under the hood, so only one active pointer drag stream owns stage moves at a time.

Options:

{
  dragTarget?: Container,
  getDragTarget?: (event: FederatedPointerEvent) => Container | undefined,
  targetPointTransform?: (point: { x: number, y: number }, event: FederatedPointerEvent) => { x: number, y: number }
}

Emits stage-drag events on app.stage:

{ type: 'drag-start' | 'drag-move' | 'drag-end', position: { x, y } }

makeStageZoomable(app, container, options?)

Options:

{ minZoom?: number, maxZoom?: number, zoomSpeed?: number, renderThrottleMs?: number }

renderThrottleMs controls how often wheel-driven zoom requests trigger app.render() (default 30ms). setZoom(...) always forces an immediate app.render(). Set renderThrottleMs: 0 to render on every wheel event.

Rendering is app-scoped and shared via @wonderlandlabs-pixi-ux/utils#getSharedRenderHelper(app, ...). That means drag/zoom observers on the same app use one shared throttle stream. The first shared helper retrieval/config for a given app wins, so set policy during app boot. Shared helper internals live for the app lifetime and auto-clean on app.destroy(...).

Returns:

  • setZoom(zoom)
  • getZoom()
  • destroy()

Emits stage-zoom events on app.stage:

{ type: 'zoom', zoom: number, mousePosition: { x, y } }
