Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Agent-first video production tools and guidance for agentic CLIs

Readme

Facet

Video-production tools and guidance for agentic CLIs. Facet gives the agent in Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, OpenCode, or Compa a set of media tools and the guidance to use them for editing, narration, animation, captions, rendering, and review. Your CLI stays in charge of the model, tool calls, and approvals; Facet never calls a reasoning model and keeps no workflow state.

  • Facet Toolkit: the facet command. 33 media tools that probe, edit, stitch, compose, narrate, caption, generate, and review video; an advisory catalog of production routes; and an MCP server, facet mcp.
  • Facet Bundle: the facet skill, a facet-<pack> skill for each of seven production packs, and the facet-creative agent, installed into your CLI by facet wire.

Install

# Linux / macOS
curl -fsSL https://xibodev.github.io/facet/install.sh | sh
# Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://xibodev.github.io/facet/install.ps1 | iex

The installer keeps one runtime per user under ~/.facet (FACET_HOME moves it), verifies it with short test renders, adds ~/.facet/current/bin to your PATH, and offers to wire your CLIs. FFmpeg is required and is installed when missing. Remotion and Piper are default components; HyperFrames is optional.

Windows: the installer builds facet.exe on your computer from the release's source with the official Go toolchain, checked against pinned SHA-256 checksums, then deletes Go again. This adds a minute or two and a 60-75 MB download. Facet ships no prebuilt Windows binary since 2.2.0, because Microsoft Defender wrongly flagged the prebuilt facet.exe of 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 as Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml. If Defender blocks facet.exe, please open an issue with the detection name. Do not turn off your antivirus. On Linux and macOS, --from-source builds Facet the same way.

Coming from Facet 1.x, which installed into each project? See Upgrading from 1.x.

Use

facet wire claude # or codex, copilot, opencode, compa, a comma-separated list, or all
facet doctor

Start a new session in your CLI from a production folder and ask:

Use Facet to make a short explainer about how rain forms.

facet wire installs the skills, registers the facet MCP server, and adds a rule to ask before each of the eight tools that may charge (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Compa; Copilot CLI already asks before every tool that is not read-only). Facet declares each tool's effects; your CLI enforces consent.

Claude Code, Codex, and Copilot CLI can instead add Facet as a plugin from this repository's marketplace, once the Toolkit is installed:

claude plugin marketplace add xibodev/facet && claude plugin install facet@facet
codex plugin marketplace add xibodev/facet && codex plugin add facet@facet
copilot plugin marketplace add xibodev/facet && copilot plugin install facet@facet

Use the plugin or facet wire for a CLI, not both. See Install as a Plugin.

People and scripts can run the same tools directly:

facet tools list
facet tools describe video_compose
facet tools run video_compose --input request.json

The npm package @xibodev/facet is only a launcher for a runtime the installer put in place.
