Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@yaebal/filters

v0.1.1

Published

yaebal filters — composable, type-narrowing update filters (and/or/not) for ctx.filter().

Readme

@yaebal/filters

composable, type-narrowing update filters (the mtcute idea, made two-phase) for composer.filter(...). a filter is a predicate — sync or async — that may stage typed data; it lands on the context only after the whole filter tree matches, so a failing branch can never leak or corrupt anything. combine with and / or / not — additions flow through, for any number of filters.

install

pnpm add @yaebal/filters

usage

import { and, or, command, regex, deeplink, isPrivate, photo, video } from "@yaebal/filters";

// command filter: ctx.command, ctx.args, ctx.payload — same routing rules as bot.command()
bot.filter(and(isPrivate, command("buy")), (ctx) => ctx.reply(`args: ${ctx.args.join(", ")}`));

// regex filter: ctx.match
bot.filter(regex(/^\d+$/), (ctx) => ctx.reply(`number: ${ctx.match[0]}`));

// deep links: t.me/bot?start=ref_42
bot.filter(deeplink(/^ref_(\d+)$/), (ctx) => ctx.reply(`referred by ${ctx.match[1]}`));

// media shorthands narrow ctx.message
bot.filter(or(photo, video), (ctx) => ctx.reply("got media"));

// any bare predicate is a filter — async included
bot.filter(async (ctx) => await isAllowed(ctx.from?.id), handler);

the catalog

  • texttext, equals, contains, startsWith, endsWith (all with { ignoreCase }), regex
  • commandscommand(name?, { prefixes, caseSensitive }) with string / array / regex names, start, startGroup, deeplink
  • who / wherechatType, isPrivate, isGroup, isChannel, isForum, chatId, fromUser (ids or @usernames, on every update kind that carries them), fromBot, isPremium
  • message shapemedia, mediaType, shorthands (photo, video, audio, voice, sticker, document, animation, videoNote, paidMedia, story), payloads (location, contact, venue, poll, dice, game, invoice, successfulPayment), reply, forward, forwardOrigin, viaBot, hasEntity (text and captions), service, newChatMembers, leftChatMember, pinnedMessage
  • other updatescallbackData, inlineQuery, edited, chatMemberStatus
  • combinatorsand (additions intersect; later members see earlier stages), or (additions unite; failed branches leave nothing behind), not
  • authoringdefineFilter for custom filters that stage typed data

everything is also under one namespace, mtcute-style: import { filters } from "@yaebal/filters"filters.command(...).

custom filters

import { defineFilter } from "@yaebal/filters";

const vip = defineFilter<{ profile: Profile }>(async (ctx, bag) => {
  const profile = await db.profile(ctx.from?.id);
  if (!profile?.vip) return false;
  bag.profile = profile; // staged — committed onto ctx only on a full match
  return true;
});

bot.filter(and(vip, command("redeem")), (ctx) => ctx.profile /* typed */);

part of yaebal — a type-safe, runtime-agnostic Telegram Bot API framework. MIT.
