Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

yeld installer — add tasteful native ads to your free app with one component.

@yeld/cli

The installer for yeld — the ad network for free software. Publishers add contextual, clearly-labeled ads to a free app and keep 70% of every click.

  • Registry: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@yeld/cli
  • Source: https://github.com/julesredd/yeld/tree/main/packages/cli
  • Full spec / integration contract: https://yeld.dev/llms.txt
  • Published by: the yeld npm account, maintainer [email protected]

Zero dependencies. Reads your project to detect the framework, writes a .env.local entry and (optionally, with --apply) one ad-unit snippet into your source, and talks to https://yeld.dev (or --base=<url> for local testing) over plain HTTPS. No telemetry beyond that. Nothing in this package touches files outside the project it's run in.

What each command does

npx @yeld/cli plan read-only: framework, primary screen, exact
insertion point — no network call
npx @yeld/cli init [app_id] provision an app (no account needed), install
the SDK, write env config, plan the placement
npx @yeld/cli init --apply also insert the unit itself — shows the diff
and asks first (--yes skips the prompt)
npx @yeld/cli add propose more ad placements beyond the first
npx @yeld/cli verify --wait confirm the unit actually rendered correctly
npx @yeld/cli launch end preview mode — go live, start earning

A provisioned app starts in preview: sample or unbilled ads render immediately so you can react to the placement, and nothing bills or earns until you explicitly run launch.

Safety notes for anyone reviewing this before running it

  • --apply only ever writes one <script>/<div> or one React component insertion, shown as a diff before it's written (or gated behind --yes in non-interactive/--json mode). It refuses to edit at low placement confidence or when a unit is already installed.
  • The only network calls are to the yeld API (https://yeld.dev by default) to provision an app ID and check installation status.
  • Source is fully readable in the repo linked above — bin/yeld.js and lib/plan.js / lib/apply.js are plain, unminified CommonJS.
