test-pkg

A tiny npm package that provides simple arithmetic functions: add(a, b), subtract(a, b), multiply(a, b), divide(a, b), and sqrt(x). Written in TypeScript and shipped with type definitions.

Usage

TypeScript / ESM:

console.log(add(2, 3)); // 5

console.log(divide(6, 3)); // 2
console.log(sqrt(9)); // 3

CommonJS:

API

• add(a: number, b: number): number — Returns the sum of two numbers. Throws a TypeError if any argument is not a number.
• subtract(a: number, b: number): number — Returns the difference a - b. Throws a TypeError if any argument is not a number.
• multiply(a: number, b: number): number — Returns the product a * b. Throws a TypeError if any argument is not a number.
• divide(a: number, b: number): number — Returns the quotient a / b. Throws a TypeError if any argument is not a number, and a RangeError if b is 0.
• sqrt(x: number): number — Returns the non-negative square root of x. Throws a TypeError if the argument is not a number, and a RangeError if x is negative.

Development

• Source: TypeScript in src/
• Build: npm run build (tsup) → outputs ESM (dist/index.mjs) + CommonJS (dist/index.cjs) and types (dist/index.d.ts).
• Tests: Jest

Scripts

• npm test — Run tests with Jest.
• npm run test:watch — Watch mode for tests.
• npm run lint — Lint using Biome.
• npm run format — Format files in-place using Biome.
• npm run format:check — Check formatting without writing.
• npm run build — Build with tsup (ESM + CJS + d.ts) to dist/.
• npm run prepublishOnly — Validate (lint, format check, tests) and then build before publishing.
