Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Herdr tab spinner, completion mark, and AI-generated tab labels for the Pi coding agent

Readme

@yukikisaku/pi-herdr-status

Herdr tab status for the Pi coding agent.

Herdr tracks which of its panes is busy, but its tab labels stay as plain numbers. This extension puts the work back into the tab bar:

  • Spinner on the tab label while the agent is working.
  • 🔔 mark on the tab label when the agent finishes, cleared automatically once you look at that tab.
  • AI-generated title as the tab label, so 1 becomes Fix OAuth callback.

Herdr already plays its own completion sound, so this extension does not add one.

Install

pi install npm:@yukikisaku/pi-herdr-status

It activates only inside Herdr (HERDR_ENV=1) and stays completely inactive anywhere else, so it is safe to leave installed on every machine.

It talks to Herdr's socket API using tab.get and tab.rename only. Herdr's own herdr-agent-state integration keeps reporting agent state; this extension never touches that.

Commands

/rename regenerate the tab label from the whole conversation
/rename Fix OAuth callback set the tab label explicitly

/pi-herdr open the settings menu

Use the arrow keys to move, Enter or Space to change a value, and Escape to close the menu. String settings open an input screen. Changes are applied and saved immediately. Any arguments to /pi-herdr are ignored, so it always opens the same menu.

Settings live in ~/.pi/agent/pi-herdr.json.

Title generation

Titles are generated by the model the session is already running on, at low thinking effort, in the language you wrote in. Set naming-model in the settings menu to use a cheaper model instead, or clear the field to go back to the session model.

Following renames from the host

The tab label always follows the session's own title. Renames that happen outside this extension — plain Pi's /name, Oh My Pi's builtin /rename, a rename from another extension — are mirrored onto the tab label without rewriting the session. Oh My Pi announces no rename event, so its renames are picked up by a lightweight watcher that re-reads the session name once per second and only talks to Herdr when it actually changed. An explicitly set title also stops any AI-generated rename that is still in flight, so it is never overwritten afterwards.
