Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.1.0

Portable authenticated MCP tool bridge for external-agent hosts.

Readme

@zclaudia/agent-tool-bridge

Provider-neutral MCP bridge for standalone external-agent hosts.

The package starts an authenticated loopback tool service and returns a standard provider MCP entry that launches the bundled stdio proxy. Hosts supply a ToolCatalog; the bridge has no dependency on ZClaudia routes or registries.

Use createPortableToolBridgeHost for a long-lived host process. It starts one authenticated loopback service and creates any number of session-specific MCP entries. The convenience createPortableToolBridge function remains suitable for a single run.

Install

pnpm add @zclaudia/agent-tool-bridge @zclaudia/plugin-sdk

Expose host tools to an agent

import { createPortableToolBridgeHost } from '@zclaudia/agent-tool-bridge';

const bridge = await createPortableToolBridgeHost({
  catalog: {
    listTools: () => [
      {
        name: 'echo',
        description: 'Echo text',
        inputSchema: {
          type: 'object',
          properties: { text: { type: 'string' } },
          required: ['text'],
        },
      },
    ],
    callTool: (_name, args) => String(args.text),
  },
});

const mcpEntry = bridge.createEntry({ sessionId: 'session-1' });
// Return mcpEntry from the plugin SDK host's createToolBridge implementation.

await bridge.close();

The bridge binds to loopback, creates a random bearer token, and passes the URL and credentials only to its bundled stdio MCP proxy. The host controls tool discovery and execution through ToolCatalog; session identity is supplied separately for each MCP entry.

Design boundary

This package translates MCP stdio calls into a small host-neutral ToolCatalog. It does not know about ZClaudia routes, registries, persistence, or UI state. Agent execution belongs in @zclaudia/agent-runtime, while provider-facing contracts live in @zclaudia/plugin-sdk.

Development

pnpm install
pnpm check

Node.js 22.19 or newer is required.

Release

The Publish to npm workflow uses npm trusted publishing. Create a GitHub release whose tag exactly matches v${package.json.version} (for example, v0.1.0) after configuring this repository as a trusted publisher for @zclaudia/agent-tool-bridge.
