Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@zenuinebit/area-units

Convert, read and format land and floor areas, including the units used in Indian real estate. No dependencies.

import { convert, convertRate, parse, format } from "@zenuinebit/area-units";

convert(1, "acre", "sqft");              // 43560
convert(1000, "sqft", "sqm");            // 92.90304
convert(10, "gaj", "sqft"); // 90 (gaj is sq yd)
convertRate(5000, "sqft", "sqm"); // price per sq ft -> per sq m
parse("1,200 sq ft");                    // { value: 1200, unit: "sqft" }
format(1200, "sqft");                    // "1,200 sq ft"

// Regional units: define how many square metres they cover
convert(2, "bigha", "sqm", { custom: { bigha: 1618.7 } });

Units: sqm, sqft, sqyd (also gaj), acre, hectare, sqkm, sqmi, cent, guntha, ground, marla, kanal. parse understands common spellings such as sq. ft., sft, m², acres, gunta.

How it works

  • Every unit is stored as square metres, from exact definitions (1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft, 1 cent = 1/100 acre, 1 guntha = 1/40 acre, 1 ground = 2,400 sq ft, 1 marla = 272.25 sq ft, 1 kanal = 20 marla).
  • Results are rounded to 6 decimals (precision option) so you do not get 0.30000000000000004.
  • bigha, biswa, katha and similar are left out on purpose: their size changes from state to state, even district to district. Pass your region's value as a custom unit.
  • convertRate can return decimals. Round it to the currency yourself (see @zenuinebit/money).
