Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Reusable TypeScript Pulumi constructs for Meridian deployment-time engine placement

Readme

MeridianConstructs

CI CodeQL

@zephytiju/meridian-storage-constructs is the reusable TypeScript Pulumi construct library for deployment-time Meridian Engine selection. It validates Resource placement and released Adapter capabilities, supports managed and external Engines through explicit provider injection, and produces a closed, canonical meridian-config.v1 document plus logical Platform capability outputs.

The package does not import any Adapter—including Kafka—and never creates providers, discovers ambient credentials, reads another stack, or assumes Platform/Vangu state and lifecycle authority.

Collector exporter passwords may use a complete ${env:VARIABLE_NAME} substitution when credentialRefs declares { provider: "environment", reference: "VARIABLE_NAME" }. The caller delivers that environment variable to the Collector; Constructs preserves the opaque substitution and never reads its value. Literal passwords, undeclared references, fallback values, and concatenated substitutions fail validation. Other secret-bearing keys retain their existing rejection rules. Use createClickHouseTelemetryPlan to render the authenticated stock ingestion chain and explicit migrations for registered Meridian Resources.

npm install @zephytiju/meridian-storage-constructs @pulumi/pulumi
import {
  ExternalEngine,
  getEngineProfile,
  parseResourceSelector,
} from "@zephytiju/meridian-storage-constructs";

const profile = getEngineProfile("postgresql-postgis-local-single-primary");
const resource = parseResourceSelector("structured:orders.records");

const engine = new ExternalEngine("orders", {
  binding: {
    bindingId: "orders-db",
    profileId: profile.id,
    // Use the Adapter's public expected-fingerprint helper for the exact settings.
    requiredCapabilityFingerprint:
      "sha256:aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa",
    acl: { provider: "policy-registry", reference: "orders-runtime" },
    migration: {
      contract: "meridian.migration.apply",
      version: "1.0.0",
      appliedFingerprint: "sha256:...",
    },
    observability: { enabled: false, labels: {} },
  },
  connection: {
    physicalNamespace: "orders",
    identityRef: { provider: "workload-identity", reference: "orders-runtime" },
    secretRef: { provider: "secret-manager", reference: "orders/database" },
    tls: {
      mode: "server",
      serverName: "postgres.example",
      caRef: { provider: "secret-manager", reference: "orders/postgres-ca" },
    },
    endpoint: "postgresql://postgres.example:5432/orders",
    requiredPhysicalFingerprint: "sha256:...",
  },
});

void resource;
void engine;

See examples/external.ts for a complete external-Engine deployment.

Version 1.4.0 accepts any supported non-empty Catalog subset and independently pins provider bundles and individual Resources. See docs/resource-fingerprints.md for field meanings, the backward-compatible resource-pin alias, and public Core acceptance.

For the released durable PostgreSQL projection profile, see docs/projection-jobs.md. Version 1.3.0 separates deployment-selected releases from required contracts. It retains required atomic Evidence declarations and host startup validation. Version 1.1.0 added validated worker jobs and caller-owned host templates with bounded drain/termination and version-addressed target/read wiring, while preserving the existing rebuild helper.

V1 surface

  • Supported Catalog registry: structured, object, cache, evidence, streaming; deployments select a non-empty subset containing every required Resource's Catalog.
  • Released profiles for PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, ClickHouse, Valkey, S3, OCI Distribution, and Kafka/Streaming, with deployment-owned package locks and operation descriptor fingerprints.
  • One-primary defaults, opt-in multi-engine profiles, and exact-one Resource placement.
  • Operation, guarantee, limit, topology, exact-coordinate and physical-fingerprint validation.
  • Opaque identity/secret references, authenticated TLS, and recursive inline-secret rejection.
  • Canonical runtime configuration, SHA-256 fingerprints, logical Resource capability outputs, and deterministic plan diffs.
  • Explicit migration, projection, cache-warm, streaming-bootstrap, backup, restore, and validation job specifications.
  • Digest-pinned OpenTelemetry Collector sidecar/gateway specifications and a directly wireable, non-secret runtime telemetry capability.
  • Pulumi mock integration and provider-neutral local cluster-equivalent conformance harnesses.

Authority boundary

MeridianConstructs expresses deployment-time selection and reusable declarations. Platform/Vangu IaC remains authoritative for providers, provisioning/reference, state, identity, ACLs, migrations, recovery, and lifecycle. Applications receive logical Resource capabilities and a runtime config mount; they do not select Engines or import Kafka.

NativeQuery and Catalogs such as ontology, query, projection, telemetry, audit, lineage, usage, and cost are outside Meridian V1 and are rejected.

EngineProfileV1.profileFingerprint identifies the IaC selection profile. It must never be used as requiredCapabilityFingerprint: that runtime pin is the selected Adapter's authenticated CapabilityManifest fingerprint for the exact Engine version and settings. Generate it through the Adapter's released public helper or take it from an authenticated probe.

Development

Node.js 22 or later is required. The lockfile is authoritative.

npm ci --ignore-scripts
npm run check
npm audit --audit-level=high

npm run check runs formatting, linting, strict type checking, contract drift detection, tests with coverage, compilation, and package-content inspection. See docs/conformance.md and docs/compatibility.md for the evidence model.

Design baseline

This release is locked to Meridian HLD revision 62, Catalogs and Public Interfaces revision 70, Engine Adapters revision 24, Kafka Adapter revision 6, and MeridianConstructs revision 63. The canonical repository is zephytiju/MeridianConstructs; the npm distribution is @zephytiju/meridian-storage-constructs.

Deployment release selection and the exhaustive gate inventory are documented in release validation. Untested combinations remain unverified.

Version 1.5.0 aligns Operation planning with released Adapter capabilities. See selected manifests and migration for explicit manifest inputs, corrected PostgreSQL baselines and the complete family inventory.
