Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Document retrieval, bounded evidence excerpts and grounded prompt adapter; does not train model weights.

@zeruxjs/ai-model

A local dependency-light retrieval knowledge base, not a model-training or embedding runtime. It offers keyword-based ranking, chunking, source-addressable excerpts, context budgeting, snapshots and optional filesystem persistence.

import {createKnowledgeBase, chunkDocument, retrieveEvidence, createGroundedAssistant,
        saveKnowledgeBase, loadKnowledgeBase} from '@zeruxjs/ai-model';
import {createOpenAICompatibleProvider} from '@zeruxjs/ai';

const kb = createKnowledgeBase({maxDocuments:5000,maxDocumentCharacters:100_000});
kb.addMany(chunkDocument({id:'guide/routing',title:'Routing guide',text:manualText},
  {maxCharacters:1200,overlapCharacters:150}));
const sources = retrieveEvidence(kb,'How does routing work?',{limit:4,maxTotalCharacters:4000});
const assistant = createGroundedAssistant(kb, provider); // any compatible chat provider
const {answer,sources:citations} = await assistant.answer('How does routing work?');
await saveKnowledgeBase(kb,'./private/knowledge.json');
const restored = await loadKnowledgeBase('./private/knowledge.json');

Chunk IDs are deterministic (originalId#0, etc.). Chunk metadata contains sourceId and chunk number. The assistant returns citations as structured source data, allowing consumers to display evidence separately from generated text. createGroundedPrompt and DocumentKnowledgeBase.search() remain available. Document and snapshot sizes are bounded; snapshots use atomic replacement and reject symlink targets.

Search is lexical, linear in the number and length of documents; no embeddings, cross-encoder reranking or remote model training is implied. Grounded instructions are not a security boundary against prompt injection, nor a guarantee that answers are accurate; validate generated citations against the returned evidence and apply your own authorization filters before populating the knowledge base.

Section 80: snapshot imports reject duplicate IDs without replacing existing documents. IDs reject controls and queries are bounded. Evidence excerpts are serialized as untrusted JSON strings inside the prompt. This reduces delimiter spoofing but does not guarantee resistance to prompt injection, nor does the package train or fine-tune a model.

Release 0.0.2

Prepared to validate npm trusted publishing through GitHub Actions.

Release 0.0.3

Synchronized ecosystem release, including Zuixs CSS-entry support and documentation updates. Existing placeholder packages retain their documented limitations.
