Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@zthun/cirque-du-dom

v7.2.15

Published

A cirque performance for unit testing basic dom applications and web components.

Readme

Circus of DOM (Cirque du DOM)

This is the Circus adapter for unit testing web components and DOM-based UIs. It provides setup and driver implementations backed by HTMLElement, @testing-library/dom, and @testing-library/user-event.

Installation

For unit testing, install the adapter as a development dependency:

# npm
npm install --save-dev @zthun/cirque @zthun/cirque-du-dom
# Yarn
yarn add --dev @zthun/cirque @zthun/cirque-du-dom

If your library exports component models, include @zthun/cirque as a dependency or peer dependency instead.

Setup

This package provides two setup classes: ZCircusSetupHtml and ZCircusSetupHtmlElement.

Use ZCircusSetupHtml to render an HTML string inside a div container. Use ZCircusSetupHtmlElement to provide your own container template. The latter clones the template and appends the clone to document.body; it does not attach the original element. Both setups return a driver for the container and remove that container when the setup is destroyed. Use ZCircusDestroy.sequential(driver, renderer) to clean up both objects.

Run DOM tests in an environment that provides document, such as happy-dom or jsdom. Register any custom elements before calling setup().

Example

This example assumes that my-component is registered and MyComponentModel is defined with a matching selector.

import type { IZCircusDriver, IZCircusSetup } from "@zthun/cirque";
import { ZCircusBy, ZCircusDestroy } from "@zthun/cirque";
import { ZCircusSetupHtml } from "@zthun/cirque-du-dom";
import { afterEach, describe, expect, it } from "vitest";
import { MyComponentModel } from "./my-component.cm.mjs";

describe("MyComponent", () => {
  let driver: IZCircusDriver | undefined;
  let renderer: IZCircusSetup | undefined;

  afterEach(async () => {
    await ZCircusDestroy.sequential(driver, renderer);
  });

  const createTestTarget = async () => {
    renderer = new ZCircusSetupHtml("<my-component></my-component>");
    driver = await renderer.setup();
    return ZCircusBy.first(driver, MyComponentModel);
  };

  it("should render the component", async () => {
    const target = await createTestTarget();
    expect(target).toBeDefined();
  });
});
