Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

npm version License: MIT

Local-first persistent memory for AI agents — zero setup, full-text search, no cloud required.

Give your AI agent long-term memory that survives across sessions. Unlike knowledge graph solutions that require complex setup, agentvault-memory is a simple note-taking system with powerful full-text search.

Why?

| Existing Solutions | Problem | |-------------------|---------| | server-memory (Knowledge Graph) | Complex entity/relation model. Requires structured input. | | Mem0, Cognee | Cloud-based, expensive, privacy concerns | | Vector databases | Over-engineered for most use cases |

agentvault-memory: Save text → Search text. That's it. SQLite + FTS5. Fast, private, local.

Tools

| Tool | Description | |------|-------------| | save_memory | Save any text with tags and importance level | | search_memory | Full-text search across all memories | | list_memories | Browse recent memories or filter by tag | | delete_memory | Remove a specific memory | | memory_stats | View memory statistics |

Quick Start

Claude Desktop

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "memory": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "agentvault-memory"]
    }
  }
}

Then just talk to your agent:

"Remember that the API endpoint is https://api.example.com/v2" → Agent calls save_memory

"What was that API endpoint?" → Agent calls search_memory → finds it instantly

Storage

All data is stored locally at ~/.agentvault/memory.db (SQLite).

  • No cloud, no account, no API keys
  • Data never leaves your machine
  • Override path: AGENTVAULT_MEMORY_DB=/path/to/memory.db

Part of AgentVault

🏴‍☠️ AgentVault — The essential toolkit for AI agents.

💡 Tip: Memory is included in agentvault-tools (9 tools in one package). Use the standalone agentvault-memory only if you want memory without the web/utility tools.

| Package | What it does | |---------|-------------| | agentvault-tools | 🛠️ 9-tool MCP starter kit (includes memory) | | agentvault-memory | 🧠 Local-first persistent memory (you are here) | | agentvault-guard | 🛡️ Tool poisoning detection | | agentvault-gateway | 🔌 MCP proxy with audit logging | | agentvault-score | 📊 Quality scoring (A+ to F) | | agentvault-retry | 🔄 Resilient calls with backoff | | agentvault-cache | ⚡ Smart result caching |
