Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

AI Agent Hub

A local web dashboard to manage, create, edit, and delete AI coding agents across multiple tools from a single interface.

Supports auto-detection of installed tools — just run the server and it finds what's on your system.

AI Agent Hub — Galaxy 4D View

Supported Tools

16 known tool signatures are recognized out of the box (detected by config path or CLI binary), plus heuristic auto-detection finds any other AI tool config folder in your home directory. ✓ = managed feature.

| Tool | Agents | Rules | MCP | Config | Plugins | Sessions | |------|:------:|:-----:|:---:|:------:|:-------:|:--------:| | Kiro | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | | Claude Code | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | | Codex (OpenAI) | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | | Cursor | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | | Windsurf | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | — | | Aider | — | — | — | ✓ | — | — | | Continue.dev | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | | GitHub Copilot | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | — | — | | Cline | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | | Amazon Q | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | — | — | | Gemini CLI | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | | OpenCode | — | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | | Qwen Code | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | — | ✓ | | DeepSeek CLI | — | — | ✓ | ✓ | — | — | | Roo Code | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | — | | Kibitz | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — | — |

Plus any other tool found by the heuristic scan (e.g. future or niche agents), which you can rename, recolor, or edit from the Settings page.

Install

Option 1 — npm (recommended)

npx ai-agents-hub # run without installing
# or install globally:
npm install -g ai-agents-hub
ai-agent-hub

Then open http://localhost:3847.

Option 2 — single-file binary

Grab ai-agent-hub (Linux/macOS) from the GitHub releases page — one self-contained executable, no Node/npm/Bun needed:

./ai-agent-hub            # serves the dashboard at http://localhost:3847
./ai-agent-hub --port 9000 --open

Option 3 — from source (dev)

# Install dependencies
cd server && bun install
cd ../client && bun install

# Run both (in separate terminals)
cd server && bun run dev    # → http://localhost:3847
cd client && bun run dev    # → http://localhost:5173

Open http://localhost:5173 in your browser.

CLI options

ai-agent-hub [--port <number>] [--host <name>] [--open] [--help]
  • --port — listen port (default: 3847)
  • --host — bind host (default: localhost)
  • --open — open the dashboard in your browser

Everything is stored locally under ~/.ai-agent-hub/ (tool registry, preferences, backups).

Features

  • Layered auto-discovery: The hub doesn't just check a fixed list — it scans your home directory for agent config folders, probes for CLI binaries on PATH, and finds AI tools installed anywhere on the machine
  • Fully dynamic dashboard: Sidebar, dashboard stats, Sessions, MCP health, and the universal editors all derive from what's actually detected
  • Known + heuristic detection: Recognizes ~20 known tools (Kiro, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, Aider, Continue, Copilot, Cline, Amazon Q, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Qwen, DeepSeek, Roo, Kibitz...) and auto-finds unknown ones from their config markers
  • Refine & manage: Rename, recolor, edit paths/features/formats, enable/disable, ignore auto-found folders, or register your own tool from the Settings page
  • Universal settings: Enable/disable tools, configure custom paths via /api/overview/settings
  • Live editing: Monaco editor (VS Code engine) for JSON, TOML, and Markdown
  • CRUD operations: Create, read, update, delete agents/rules/configs
  • Live reload: File watcher detects external changes and keeps the UI in sync
  • Dark theme: Easy on the eyes

How Detection Works

  1. Known signatures — each known tool declares its config path, file formats, and features. Detected when the path exists (primary) or the CLI binary is on PATH (secondary fallback).
  2. Heuristic scan — dot-folders in ~ carrying agent markers (agents/, rules/, steering/, mcp.json, config.yaml/config.toml, session dirs, chat DBs) are auto-added as tools with best-guess config. Marked "Auto-found".
  3. Manual refine — the Settings page lets you fix paths, formats, and features for any tool, ignore false positives, or register a tool the scanner missed.

All results are persisted to ~/.ai-agent-hub/tool-registry.json, and every dashboard surface (sidebar, dashboard, sessions, MCP health, stats) updates from the detected set.

Architecture

Browser (localhost:3847) ←→ Hono API + static UI ←→ File System
                                                                │
                                                  ~/.kiro/  ~/.claude/  ~/.codex/

Tech Stack

  • Runtime: Node.js (npm package) or Bun (single-file binary / dev)
  • Backend: Hono
  • Frontend: React + Vite + Tailwind CSS v4
  • Editor: Monaco (VS Code engine)
  • State: TanStack React Query
  • File watching: Chokidar

API Endpoints

| Endpoint | Description | |----------|-------------| | GET /api/overview | Stats for all enabled tools | | GET /api/overview/detect | Auto-detect installed tools | | GET/PUT /api/overview/settings | Hub settings (enable/disable tools) | | GET/POST/PUT/DELETE /api/kiro/agents | Kiro agent CRUD | | GET/PUT /api/kiro/steering/:name | Kiro steering files | | GET/PUT /api/kiro/mcp | Kiro MCP config | | GET /api/kiro/kb | Knowledge base browser | | GET/POST/PUT/DELETE /api/claude/rules | Claude rules CRUD | | GET/PUT /api/claude/mcp | Claude MCP config | | GET /api/claude/models | Claude available models | | GET/PUT /api/codex/config | Codex config.toml | | GET /api/codex/mcp | Codex MCP servers |

Adding a New Tool

New tools are now auto-discovered, but to get a first-class signature (known formats, colors, sessions command):

  1. Add an entry to KNOWN_TOOL_SIGNATURES in server/src/universal-registry.ts
  2. Refine paths/features live from the Settings page (stored as overrides)
  3. No route or page files needed — the universal read/write engine handles everything
