Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

aifree

Verified free AI offers from the terminal, backed by the aifree.dev public API (CC BY 4.0, verified by people, re-checked monthly).

Not on npm yet. npx aifree does not work until the package is published (a maintainer decision). Run it from this folder of the aifree.dev source instead: node packages/cli/index.mjs <command> from the repo root, or npm install -g ./packages/cli once to get an aifree command. Everything it does is a plain GET on https://aifree.dev/api/v1, so curl works too.

node packages/cli/index.mjs search "free tts" --cardRequired false
node packages/cli/index.mjs search gemini --category api-credits --json
node packages/cli/index.mjs show groq-free-tier # details + per-model rate limits
node packages/cli/index.mjs watch groq-free-tier # prints the alert link
node packages/cli/index.mjs calendar --days 60 # upcoming deadlines + the .ics feed
node packages/cli/index.mjs models qwen # models served free
node packages/cli/index.mjs model gpt-oss-120b # where one model is free

aifree models [query] lists catalog models (GET /api/v1/models), most free sources first: slug, name, family and how many free sources serve it (and how many are verified). Filters: --family qwen, --provider groq, --limit 20 (max 200).

aifree model <slug> shows one model (GET /api/v1/models/<slug>): family, context, tools/vision, then a table of every free source with its published RPM / RPD / TPM, whether a card is needed and verified/listed status, and the offer page links. An old or alternate slug of a model answers 308 and is followed to the current one; an unknown slug prints no model "<slug>" and exits 1.

aifree show <slug> ends with a Models table when the offer records the models it serves free (API free tiers such as Groq, Gemini, OpenRouter): one row per model with context window, the published free-tier limits (RPM, RPD, TPM, TPD, requests/month) and tool calling / vision; - means the vendor publishes no number:

Models (published free-tier rate limits)
Model Context RPM RPD TPM TPD Req/mo Tools/Vision
openai/gpt-oss-120b 131k 30 1,000 8,000 - - -/-
whisper-large-v3 - 20 2,000 - - - -/-

Zero dependencies, Node 18+. --json prints the raw API payload for scripting. Set AIFREE_API_KEY (free, from https://aifree.dev/developers) to raise the rate limit from 600 to 6,000 requests per 15 minutes, and AIFREE_API_URL to target another deployment.
