Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

The Alexi Researcher desktop app (macOS and Windows), installed with npm.

npm install -g alexi-researcher
alexi-researcher

Alexi Researcher is a notebook where your own agent does the upfront work: ask for something and the answer lands as notes, tasks, tables and canvases. Local only, with no account, no cloud and no API key. It runs on the Claude Code or Codex (ChatGPT) sign-in you already have.

Installing downloads this version's app from GitHub, checks it against the release's checksum and keeps it inside the package. alexi-researcher opens it.

  • Update: npm update -g alexi-researcher
  • Uninstall: npm uninstall -g alexi-researcher, then delete ~/.alexi-researcher (your notes are in there).
