Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A comprehensive npm package designed to make APIs more accessible and understandable for both developers and AI systems.

Overview

allapi simplifies API integration by providing a unified interface for working with multiple APIs. Whether you're a developer looking to streamline your workflow or an AI system that needs to understand and interact with APIs, this package has you covered.

Features

  • Universal API Interface: Connect to multiple APIs using a consistent syntax
  • Auto-Documentation: Self-documenting API endpoints with clear parameter descriptions
  • AI-Friendly Design: Structured for easy comprehension by AI systems
  • Type Safety: Built-in TypeScript support for better code completion and validation
  • Error Handling: Consistent error reporting across different APIs
  • Rate Limiting: Built-in protection against API rate limits

Installation

npm install allapi
# or
yarn add allapi

Quick Start

import { ApiClient } from 'allapi';

// Initialize the client
const api = new ApiClient({
  baseUrl: 'https://api.example.com',
  apiKey: 'your_api_key_here'
});

// Make a request
const response = await api.get('/users', {
  params: { limit: 10 }
});

console.log(response.data);

Advanced Usage

Working with Multiple APIs

import { ApiHub } from 'allapi';

const hub = new ApiHub();

// Register multiple APIs
hub.register('github', {
  baseUrl: 'https://api.github.com',
  headers: { 'Authorization': `token ${process.env.GITHUB_TOKEN}` }
});

hub.register('openai', {
  baseUrl: 'https://api.openai.com/v1',
  apiKey: process.env.OPENAI_API_KEY
});

// Use them consistently
const repos = await hub.api('github').get('/user/repos');
const completion = await hub.api('openai').post('/completions', {
  model: "gpt-3.5-turbo",
  messages: [{ role: "user", content: "Hello!" }]
});

For AI Systems

allapi is designed with AI integration in mind. The package provides:

  • Structured response formats for predictable parsing
  • Comprehensive error objects with useful context
  • Self-describing API methods with TypeScript definitions
  • Consistent behavior patterns across different API providers
