Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Alytica SDK

The Alytica SDK is a JavaScript/TypeScript server library for integrating with the Alytica analytics platform. This SDK allows you to track user events, identify users, and manage user identity aliasing in your applications.

Installation

npm install alytica-node
# or
yarn add alytica-node

Quick Start

import { Alytica } from 'alytica-node';

// Initialize the SDK
const analytics = new Alytica({
  clientId: 'YOUR_CLIENT_ID',
  debug: true
});

// Track an event
analytics.track('Button Clicked', {
  buttonName: 'Sign Up',
  pageLocation: 'homepage'
});

// Identify a user
analytics.identify({
  $userId: 'user-123',
  properties: {
    name: 'John Doe',
    email: '[email protected]'
  }
});

Configuration

The SDK can be initialized with the following options:

const analytics = new Alytica({
  clientId: 'YOUR_CLIENT_ID',           // Required
  clientSecret: 'YOUR_CLIENT_SECRET', // Optional: For server-side use, otherwise uses CORS auth
  apiUrl: 'https://api.alytica.tech',   // Optional: Default is https://api.alytica.tech
  debug: false, // Optional: Enable debug logging
  processProfile: true // Optional: If true, all events create/update profiles if false then
});

Core Methods

Track Events

The track method allows you to record user actions or events.

// Basic event tracking
analytics.track('Page Viewed');

// With properties
analytics.track('Product Added', {
  productId: 'prod-123',
  price: 29.99,
  currency: 'USD'
});

// With custom distinctId
analytics.track('Form Submitted', {
  formName: 'newsletter',
  distinctId: 'user-456'
});

Identify Users

The identify method associates a user with their actions and traits.

analytics.identify({
  $userId: 'user-123',
  properties: {
    name: 'Jane Smith',
    email: '[email protected]',
    plan: 'premium',
    signupDate: '2023-04-15'
  }
});

Alias Users

The alias method connects different identifiers for the same user.

analytics.alias({
  $distinctId: 'anonymous-user-abc',
  $alias: 'user-123'
});

Global Properties

You can set properties that will be included with all subsequent events.

analytics.setGlobalProperties({
  appVersion: '1.2.3',
  platform: 'web',
  environment: 'production'
});

Other Methods

// Clear the current distinctId
analytics.clear();

// Process any queued events
analytics.ready();

// Manually flush the queue
analytics.flush();

Advanced Usage

Disabling Tracking

You can temporarily disable tracking:

const analytics = new Alytica({
  clientId: 'YOUR_CLIENT_ID',
  disabled: true // No events will be sent
});

TypeScript Support

The SDK is written in TypeScript and includes full type definitions for all methods and parameters.

Debug Mode

Enable debug mode to see detailed logs of all events being sent:

const analytics = new Alytica({
  clientId: 'YOUR_CLIENT_ID',
  debug: true
});
