Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

⚓ AnchorDOM

A React UI system inspired by game engines—build HUDs and overlays without fighting CSS.

License: MIT TypeScript

Stop fighting CSS to build game UIs in React.

Design your UI at a fixed resolution (like 1920x1080), and AnchorDOM automatically handles scaling, positioning, and safe areas for any screen size or aspect ratio.

Think of it like a traditional game engine UI system—built for React.

Ideal for React Three Fiber (R3F), browser-based games, and hybrid mobile apps.

🎯 Use AnchorDOM if you:

  • Are building UI for React Three Fiber or browser-based games
  • Want pixel-perfect layouts across all screen sizes
  • Are tired of wrestling with flexbox and media queries for game interfaces

AnchorDOM provides predictable, resolution-independent layout primitives for building game-style UIs in React.

✨ Features

  • 📐 Virtual Canvas Scaling: Design in 1920x1080. AnchorDOM scales your UI using precise CSS transforms without blurry canvas rendering.
  • 9-Point Anchoring: Position elements like a native game engine (TOP_LEFT, MIDDLE_CENTER, BOTTOM_RIGHT).
  • 🎯 Relative Targeting: Anchor components to other components using strict React Refs.
  • 📏 Constraint Spacers: Dynamic "Snap-To-Grid" layout helpers that fill vertical real estate between elements.
  • 🖼️ Native 9-Slice Support: Game sprites scale without corner distortion.
  • 📱 Notch-Proof: Automatic Safe-Area integration for modern mobile devices.

📦 Installation

npm install anchordom

🚀 Quick Start

Wrap your app in a <Panel> to create a resolution-independent UI canvas:

import { Panel, Button, Label } from 'anchordom/kit';
import { defaultTheme } from 'anchordom/theme';

function GameHUD() {
  return (
    // Creates a 1920x1080 virtual canvas that fits to the window
    <Panel resolution={{ width: 1920, height: 1080 }} theme={defaultTheme} useSafeArea>

      <Label
        text="Score: 9999"
        anchor="TOP_LEFT"
        x={50} y={50}
      />

      <Button
        label="ATTACK"
        anchor="BOTTOM_RIGHT"
        x={-50} y={-50}
        onClick={() => console.log('Boom!')}
      />

    </Panel>
  );
}
