Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

APIbase MCP Client

MCP client for APIbase.pro — connect AI agents to 300+ tools across 84 providers via the Model Context Protocol. Dual-rail payments: x402 (USDC on Base) + MPP (USDC on Tempo/Stripe).

Available as two identical packages:

| Package | Install | |---------|---------| | @apibase11/mcp-client | npx -y @apibase11/mcp-client | | apibase-mcp-client | npx -y apibase-mcp-client |

Quick Start

npx -y apibase-mcp-client

Usage

Claude Desktop

Add to claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apibase": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apibase11/mcp-client"]
    }
  }
}

With API key:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apibase": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apibase11/mcp-client", "ak_live_YOUR_KEY"]
    }
  }
}

Or via environment variable:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apibase": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apibase11/mcp-client"],
      "env": {
        "APIBASE_API_KEY": "ak_live_YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Cursor / Windsurf / VS Code

Same config pattern — add to your MCP settings:

{
  "command": "npx",
  "args": ["-y", "apibase-mcp-client"]
}

Streamable HTTP (no client needed)

Most modern MCP clients support remote servers directly:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apibase": {
      "url": "https://apibase.pro/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Authentication

Three modes (in priority order):

  1. CLI argument: npx apibase-mcp-client ak_live_YOUR_KEY
  2. Environment variable: APIBASE_API_KEY=ak_live_YOUR_KEY
  3. Auto-register: omit the key — APIbase creates one automatically on first request

Payment

APIbase supports dual-rail payments — agents can pay using either protocol:

| Protocol | Network | Token | How | |----------|---------|-------|-----| | x402 | Base | USDC | X-Payment header | | MPP | Tempo (Stripe) | USDC | Authorization: Payment header |

Free tools work without payment. Paid tools return HTTP 402 with payment instructions for both protocols. Use mppx SDK or Tempo CLI for automatic payment handling.

# AgentCash — one-command setup
npx agentcash add https://apibase.pro

Available Tools

300+ tools across 30+ categories:

  • Travel: flights, hotels, airports (Amadeus, Sabre, Aviasales)
  • Finance: stocks, forex, economic data (Finnhub, ECB, FRED)
  • Crypto: prices, markets, DEX, prediction markets (CoinGecko, Polymarket, Hyperliquid)
  • Search: web, news, semantic, AI (Serper, Tavily, Exa)
  • Health: nutrition, drugs, clinical trials (USDA, OpenFDA, ClinicalTrials.gov)
  • Maps: geocoding, routing, walkability (Geoapify, Walk Score)

  • Infrastructure: DNS, domains, browser sessions (Cloudflare, NameSilo, Browserbase)
  • And more — education, jobs, space, weather, messaging, AI tools

Use tools/list to discover all available tools.

How It Works

Stdio-to-HTTP bridge: translates MCP stdio transport (used by Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.) to Streamable HTTP transport (used by APIbase server). No tool re-registration — pure transport proxy.
