Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

armenian-ssn-validator

Armenian Social Security Number (SSN) validator and generator written in TypeScript for frontend and backend projects. Provide a birth date plus an SSN to validate, or generate a deterministic SSN for QA based on a birth date.

Install

npm install armenian-ssn-validator

Usage

import { validateSSN, generateSSN } from "armenian-ssn-validator";

const birthDate = "1990-06-15";
const ssn = "2506901238";

validateSSN(ssn, birthDate); // true

const generated = generateSSN(birthDate, { sex: "female" });
validateSSN(generated, birthDate); // true

Using CommonJS

The package ships ESM and CJS bundles. In CJS environments:

const { validateSSN, generateSSN } = require("armenian-ssn-validator");

const birthDate = "1990-06-15";
const ssn = "2506901238";
console.log(validateSSN(ssn, birthDate));

Check digit behavior

The official check-digit algorithm is not published. The validator accepts any numeric check digit by default. You can provide your own validation or generation strategy to enforce a specific rule:

const checkDigit = (base: string) => {
  const sum = base.split("").reduce((acc, digit) => acc + Number(digit), 0);
  return String(sum % 10);
};

const candidate = generateSSN(birthDate, { checkDigitGenerator: checkDigit });
validateSSN(candidate, birthDate, {
  checkDigitValidator: (base, digit) => digit === checkDigit(base)
}); // true

Rules covered

  • 10 numeric digits
  • Day/sex (first two digits): 11-41 for males, 51-81 for females
  • Month/century (digits 3-4): 01-12 (20th c.), 21-32 (21st c.), 41-52 (22nd c.), 61-72 (23rd c.), 81-92 (19th c.)
  • Birth year (digits 5-6): last two digits of the year
  • Sequence (digits 7-9): 001-999
  • Check digit (digit 10): user-configurable, numeric by default
  • Disallows three consecutive sixes anywhere in the number

Scripts

  • npm run build — compile to dist/
  • npm test — run unit tests (Vitest)
  • npm run lint — type-check the sources
