Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Zero-Configuration GitHub Actions Workflow & Security Generator

npm version npm downloads GitHub Repository license node version

Generate production-grade, hardened CI/CD pipelines, Dependabot rules, and SAST security workflows for any codebase in seconds — with zero configuration.

🔗 GitHub Repository: https://github.com/SiddharthPalod/Auto-Github-Actions
📦 npm Package: https://www.npmjs.com/package/auto-gha

⚡ Quick Start

Run it directly on your current directory with npx (no installation required):

npx auto-gha

Or scan any local folder or remote public GitHub repository:

# Scan a local folder
npx auto-gha ./my-app

# Scan a remote GitHub repository
npx auto-gha https://github.com/expressjs/express

🌟 Key Features

  • 🔍 Universal Tech Detection: Automatically identifies runtimes (Node, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C++, Ruby, PHP, .NET, Swift, Elixir, Scala, R, Symfony), package managers (npm, pnpm, yarn, bun, pip, cargo, maven, gradle, sbt, composer, renv), bundlers (Webpack), and cloud deployment infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure, Terraform, GHCR, IBM Cloud, OpenShift, Tencent Cloud, Octopus Deploy).
  • ⚡ Optimized CI/CD Pipelines: Builds parallel execution graphs (DAGs) with native dependency caching, 15-minute job timeouts, and concurrency cancellations.
  • 🛡️ Multi-Tier Security Policies:
    • CodeQL SAST: Automated static application security testing for supported languages.
    • Dependabot: Automatic version and security update configs with PR grouping (.github/dependabot.yml).
    • Vulnerability & SAST/DAST Scans: Native lockfile audits (npm audit, cargo audit, pip-audit, govulncheck), Semgrep, Hadolint, tfsec, Bandit, Brakeman, OpenSSF Scorecard, Google OSV, Anchore Grype, Checkmarx, Veracode, StackHawk DAST, Sysdig, Synopsys, Zscaler IaC, and Xanitizer.
  • 🌿 Git Integration: Creates a local Git branch (auto-gha/setup-ci-...), commits the changes, and generates a 1-click Pull Request link.
  • 🔄 Safe Workflow Reconciliation: Merges with existing .github/workflows/ci.yml non-destructively, preserving your custom user steps.

📖 CLI Options

| Command | Description | | :--- | :--- | | npx auto-gha | Interactive wizard with live compiler animation and project review (Default). | | npx auto-gha <path\|url> | Scan a specific local directory path or remote Git repository URL. | | npx auto-gha --inspect <path> | Non-interactive inspect mode; prints detected state, Workflow IR, and generated YAML to stdout. | | npx auto-gha --v1 | Fast minimalist wizard mode. | | npx auto-gha --help | Display CLI help menu and usage guidelines. |

🛠 Local Development & Monorepo

🧩 Extending the Engine (Developer Guide)

  • Adding support for a new language, tool, or framework: Create a single vertical plugin in packages/registry/src/plugins/<name>.ts implementing AutoGhaPlugin (defining detection, provides, and strongly-typed StepIR AST resolvers), and register it in packages/registry/src/index.ts. The @auto-gha/scanner, @auto-gha/planner, and @auto-gha/resolver engines automatically discover and orchestrate it without modifying engine internals.
  • Adding new Cloud / Deployment targets (e.g., Vercel, Fly.io, Netlify, Cloudflare): Create a plugin in packages/registry/src/plugins/<target>.ts with category: 'deployment', detection manifests, and a deploy: (ctx) => StepIR[] AST resolver. The planner automatically wires the DAG dependency ensuring deploy only runs after all tests pass.
  • Adding a new security linter or scanner: Create a single scanner plugin in packages/security/src/scanners/<scanner>.ts implementing ScannerPlugin and register it in packages/security/src/scanners/index.ts. The compiler automatically executes it via a data-driven loop with zero switch statements.
  • Adding AST Optimizations (e.g., custom caching rules, concurrency, or artifact handling): Write a new optimization pass in packages/compiler/src/passes/ to inspect or mutate the strongly-typed WorkflowIR AST before YAML serialization.
