Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Automatized continuous deployment tool for Kubernetes

AutoKube

AutoKube Is Open-Source Automated Continuous Deployment Tool For Kubernetes.

How it works?

AutoKube have special config definition for deployment. You can import an existing application into the kubernetes environment in a simpler way, away from many unnecessary definitions. For this, you only need to specify the name, platform and version of the application.

For example;

Autokube uses "autokube.json" file format. When you define configuration file on project directory, Autokube automatically will find and deploy.

{
 "workingNamespace": "web",
 "projectName": "Example Web App",
 "name": "examplewebapp",
 "platform": "ASPNETCORE",
 "version": "5.0"
}

How to use?

  • Step by step:
    1. Open a new command line on project directory.
    2. Type "node /autokube/index.js build" and run. -- /autokube: We are used this directory for example. You can move AutoKube to specific directory you want. AutoKube find docker & kubernetes easily on working os and start the deployment.

Configuration File Structure (autokube.json)

{
  "workingNamespace":"Kubernetes Namespace (required)",
  "projectName":"(Required)",

     ... // You can define n endpoint
  ],
  "secret":"SECRET NAME", //optional, you can define ssl certificates with this option
  "env":[ // You can define environment variables

     "host":"example.com",
     "inputPath":"/.*",
     "port": 80, // Service Port
     "secret":"SECRET NAME", // Optional, You can define ssl certificates with this option. That's same with general secret option

     }
  },
  "health":{ // Optional, You can check the application's health status.
     "path":"Health Check Path (uses HTTP GET)",
     "port": 80, // Port
     "initial": 10, // Initial seconds.
     "period": 5 // Kubernetes will check the application's health status each 5 seconds and it's will work when deployment completed
  },

     "min":1, // Minimum pod count
     "max":1, // Maximum pod count

  }
}

What's next?

- Automated Version Control
	We aim to do version control automated. For now, all apps deploying as latest version.
- Advanced Deployment Controller
	Kubernetes already have health check mechanism. But we though different than k8s. When docker images removes uncontrolled or careless, AutoKube will be prepared for re-deploy & use local registry for temporary if can't access pre-defined registry server.
- PHP, Python, Java, Go, C++ language supports.
	AutoKube supports Node.JS & .NET for now. You can create and use your own dockerfiles. We aim to support all popular programming languages in the world. We will be supporting these programming languages as soon as possible.
