Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

🏸 Badminton Rally CLI

A real-time, terminal-based badminton game built with React, Ink, and TypeScript.

Watch the shuttlecock arc across your terminal, hit power-ups to grow your racket, avoid fatigue hazards, and try to build your highest hit streak!

🚀 Play Instantly

You don't need to install anything. Just open your terminal and run:

npx badminton-rally

(Requires Node.js v16 or higher)

🎮 Controls

  • Left Arrow - Move player left
  • Right Arrow - Move player right
  • r - Restart game (when game over)
  • q / Esc - Quit game

⚡ Features

  • 100ms Game Loop: Custom React hooks handling real-time physics and collision detection entirely outside the browser.
  • Dynamic Entities:
    • O - Standard shuttlecock
    • V - Smash! (Falls 2x as fast, worth 2 points)
  • Power-ups & Hazards:
    • + (Energy Drink): Expands your racket size for 5 seconds.
    • X (Fatigue): Shrinks your racket to a single point for 5 seconds.
