Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

basic-calculator-java

v1.0.0

Published

A simple CLI tool to display Java source code of a basic calculator in the terminal.

Readme

basic-calculator-java

A lightweight NPM package whose only purpose is to display the Java source code of a basic calculator in your terminal.

Note: This package only displays the Java source code as plain text. It does not compile, interpret, or execute the Java code, and it does not prompt for user input or perform any calculations.

What It Does

When executed, this package prints the complete, formatted Java source code for a console-based calculator (BasicCalculator.java) directly to your terminal.

Usage

1. Run without installation (recommended)

You can run this package directly using npx without installing it:

npx basic-calculator-java

(If testing locally within the project folder, you can run npx . or node index.js)

2. Install globally

If you prefer to install it globally on your machine:

npm install -g basic-calculator-java

Once installed globally, you can run it from any terminal window using:

basic-calculator-java

Example Output

Running the command will print the following output to the terminal:

import java.util.Scanner;

public class BasicCalculator {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

        double num1, num2;
        Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in);

        System.out.println("Enter the numbers:");
        num1 = sc.nextDouble();
        num2 = sc.nextDouble();

        System.out.println("Enter the operator (+, -, *, /):");
        char operator = sc.next().charAt(0);

        double result;
        switch (operator) {
            case '+':
                result = num1 + num2;
                break;

            case '-':
                result = num1 - num2;
                break;

            case '*':
                result = num1 * num2;
                break;

            case '/':
                if (num2 == 0) {
                    System.out.println("Division by zero is not allowed.");
                    return;
                }
                result = num1 / num2;
                break;

            default:
                System.out.println("Invalid operator.");
                return;
        }

        System.out.println("The final result:");
        System.out.println(num1 + " " + operator + " " + num2 + " = " + result);
    }
}
