Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

bb-plugin-lazygit

outdated-packages

Reviewing a thread's work shouldn't mean reaching for a separate terminal. bb-plugin-lazygit auto-creates a lazygit tab on every thread you open — stage, commit, and inspect the worktree without leaving the thread. Everything runs locally: no account, API key, or external service.

Features

  • Automatic Lazygit tab — a plugin-owned panel tab appears next to Thread Info and Diff in every thread you open, running lazygit in that thread's worktree. The process starts lazily the first time the tab is activated.
  • Persistent session — the lazygit session survives tab switches, and the rendered terminal is parked with it: switching back shows the last frame instantly instead of replaying the screen.
  • Follows your bb theme — the terminal reads the selected theme's variables (ANSI palette, sidebar ground, selection, --font-terminal), exactly like bb's own terminal tabs, and repaints live when you switch palette or light/dark mode.
  • Non-git folders handled — if the thread's environment is not a git repository, the tab offers to git init it instead of failing.
  • Agent-friendly — the bundled skill tells agents to open lazygit with bb lazygit instead of driving a full-screen TUI from a shell.

Install

Prerequisites

lazygit must be on your PATH.

bb plugin install lazygit

From source

git clone https://github.com/martinlevesque/bb-plugin-lazygit.git
cd bb-plugin-lazygit
npm install
bb plugin install .

Usage

Open any thread — the Lazygit tab appears in the right panel's tab strip. To bring it back after closing it:

bb lazygit # current thread
bb lazygit --thread <id> # a specific thread

Configuration

  • autoOpen (boolean, default true) — add a Lazygit terminal tab the first time a thread is opened. Set to false to open the tab only on demand.
  • command (string, default lazygit) — the command run in the terminal tab. Override with a full path if lazygit is not on PATH.
bb plugin config lazygit # show current values
bb plugin config lazygit set autoOpen false
bb plugin config lazygit set command /opt/bin/lazygit
bb plugin reload lazygit

Settings are read once per load, so reload after changing them.

Development

npm test # vitest run — end-to-end backend tests
npm run typecheck # tsc --noEmit
bb plugin build # write dist/ for git/npm installs
bb plugin dev # rebuild and reload on every save

The backend entry is server.ts (logic in server/), the frontend entry is app.tsx (components in app/), and PLUGIN_OVERVIEW.md holds the store listing text.
