Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

(Be-Ta)Calendar

What is it?

betaCalendar is a functional, albeit much more basic, alternative to flatPicker. Is it be-tter or is it beta, I'll let you be the judge.

Why should I care?

betaCalendar makes it possible to easily integrate with the google calendar API for dates AND times. Additionally, I find it much easier to know what time slots are availalble to be booked.

How can I install it?

npm install betacalendar OR npm install augustusdog/betaCalendar#main

How can I use it?

After installing, initialise the calendar using:

betaCalendar.makeChanges(start, end, window_size, time_slot_start, time_slot_end, time_slot_interval)

  • start (int): the date you wish your calendar to start from. For example, if I only wished to take booking from tomorrow onwards, I would set start to 1 - because tomorrow is 1 day from today.
  • end (int): the date you wish your calendar to end. For example, if I only wish that customer can book two weeks out I would set end to 14.
  • window_size (int): the number of dates you wish to show at any given time. For example, on a mobile device I may want that to be 2, whereas on a desktop I may prefer 4.
  • time_slot_start (string): the time do you wish to take bookings from. For example, if I took bookings from 14:30, I would enter "14:30".
  • time_slot_end( (string): the time do you wish to take bookings until. For example, if I took bookings until 19:30, I would enter "19:30".
  • time_slot_interval (int): the time you wish to allocate to each booking. For example, if I expect each meeting to take 30 minutes I would use a value of 30.

Going forward

If you decide to add any functionality / to make any improvements, please do. I will happily review any improvements and push them to the main branch/npm.
