Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Bitwarden Wrapper

A lightweight Node.js wrapper around the Bitwarden CLI for programmatic authentication, vault unlocking, and listing items.


📦 Installation

npm install bitwarden-wrapper

⚠️ Prerequisite: Requires the Bitwarden CLI (bw) to be installed and available in your system's PATH.


⚙️ Environment Variables

This wrapper relies on the following environment variables to function:

| Variable | Description | |----------|-------------| | BW_URL | Bitwarden server URL (e.g., https://vault.bitwarden.com) | | BW_CLIENT_ID | Your Bitwarden API Client ID | | BW_CLIENT_SECRET | Your Bitwarden API Client Secret | | BW_PASSWORD | Your Bitwarden master password |

You can define them in a .env file or export them in your shell session:

BW_URL=https://vault.bitwarden.com
BW_CLIENT_ID=your-client-id
BW_CLIENT_SECRET=your-client-secret
BW_PASSWORD=your-master-password
