Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Approve the delta, not the download.

Blueline is a release-diff review desk for the package install line. It resolves, downloads, integrity-verifies, sandboxes, and scores diffs before any code runs.

Usage

Run directly via npx:

# Review a package release diff
npx blueline-cli review [email protected]

# Review and install with --ignore-scripts upon approval
npx blueline-cli install express

Or install globally:

npm install -g blueline-cli
blueline install express

Prebuilt native binaries are published for common platforms (linux, macOS, Windows). For anything else, build from source: https://github.com/Epoch-AI-Lab/blueline#quickstart

Security Invariants

Zero install scripts: blueline-cli contains no postinstall or lifecycle scripts.
Fail closed: On any signature, integrity, extraction, or resolution doubt, Blueline aborts rather than guess.
--ignore-scripts enforcement: On approval, package installation executes with --ignore-scripts so reviewed package lifecycle scripts never run automatically.
