Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

bn-en-dictionary

v1.0.2

Published

Bengali to English dictionary with Bengali and romanized lookup based on Wiktionary dump.

Readme

This is a Bengali to English dictionary in JSONL, by using data derived from Wiktionary dump and Bengal Bird vocabulary list. License: CC BY-SA 3.0.

Usage

const enBnDictionary = require("bn-en-dictionary");

const translation1 = enBnDictionary.translate("সপ্তাহ");
const translation2 = enBnDictionary.translate("soptah");

console.log(translation1);
console.log(translation2);

Object Structure Example

{
    "en": "number",
    "bn": "সংখ্যা",
    "pos": "noun",
    "def": "Quantity.",
    "source": "Wiktionary",
    "license": "CC BY-SA",
    "romanised": "songkhya"
}

translate(input) returns an array of full matching dictionary objects. It matches:

  • Exact Bengali (bn)
  • Exact romanized Bengali (romanised, case-insensitive)

If there is no match, it returns an empty array.

You can also access the full dictionary:

const enBnDictionary = require("bn-en-dictionary");

const allEntries = enBnDictionary.dictionary;
console.log(allEntries.length);

Content Notice

This package contains lexical data derived from the Wiktionary project and reflects the broad scope of vocabulary documented in natural languages. As a result, the dataset may include words, expressions, or definitions related to topics such as sexuality, violence, discrimination, religion, politics, or other culturally sensitive subjects.

The presence of such terms does not imply endorsement, promotion, or normalization of any viewpoint or behavior. These entries are included solely as part of a comprehensive linguistic record intended for educational, research, and language-technology purposes.

Because the source material originates from an open collaborative dictionary, the dataset may contain terminology that some users may consider offensive, explicit, controversial, outdated, or context-dependent. Users of this package are responsible for determining whether and how the data should be filtered, moderated, or adapted for their particular application, audience, or jurisdiction.

If this dataset is used in applications intended for minors, educational environments, or other contexts requiring moderated language content, implementers are encouraged to apply appropriate filtering or review mechanisms before presenting the data to end users.

This dataset is provided "as is" without guarantees regarding suitability for any specific use case.
