Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

the orientation of a soil sample relative to the orientation of a soil profile and the orientation of adjacent minerals is important in interpreting laboratory measurements. for example, when an edge of a horizontal section is above an adjacent soil horizon, a significant change in properties of the soil is likely to be present. similarly, if a profile is cut horizontally or diagonally, the properties of a shallow sample represent the properties of the soil not covered by the cutting.

the size of sample and the relationship of the sample to the rest of the soil profile are both important in interpreting laboratory measurements. the diameter or length of a sample should be described relative to the whole profile and to adjacent minerals. also, the size of sample should be described relative to the size of the whole profile. careful analysis of laboratory data is often obscured because of a focus on soil properties, such as those presented in the lab, rather than on the soil.

soil profiles with parallel ridges result from the accumulation of colluvium, loess, or other stream-bed soil, which may be graded laterally (horizontally) in thickness. parallel ridges may form when soils are saturated during the annual runoff season and then dried in summer. modern field descriptions should include the number of ridges and, when possible, their orientation relative to a profile. a ridge is defined as a continuous group of soil horizons, which run parallel to each other, except possibly for a few meters at each end. interpretation of the location of these ridges relative to the rest of the profile is based upon field experience and the distribution of grain sizes. the addition of parallel ridges may change the interpretation of the radial distribution of properties. 84d34552a1
